Shirley Jean Falkner Hale, 77, of Wilmington, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, June 20, 2026, surrounded by her family. After a courageous health journey, she was reunited with the love of her life, "T," after 15 years.

She was born, February 5, 1949, in Henderson, North Carolina; she was the daughter of Linwood Belmont and Virginia Elizabeth Baker Falkner. Shirley was the youngest of four children. She was a member of North Henderson Baptist Church until 1970 when she married Harvey Thomas Hale and they joined City Road United Methodist Church. After moving to Bolivia, they then became life members of Bethel United Methodist Church. Shirley carried her faith in Christ throughout her life which helped her through many ups and downs.

She was a wonderful cook, and her house was not just a house; it was a home, with her presence making every holiday special. Shirley loved her pets and nature, but most especially, she loved her family. Her love language was gifts and acts of service. Shirley held many customer service positions but is most remembered for working at Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation for 27 years. Her caring and friendly personality always shown through in her work ethic.

She is survived by her daughter, Christie Lynn Cribb, and her husband Ashley Earl of Belville, NC, and her son, Timothy Andrew Hale of Aurora, CO; grandchildren, Benjamin Thomas Tisinger and his wife Hannah Nicole of Salisbury, NC, and Sarah Elizabeth Tisinger and her significant other Mauricio Rodriguez-Garcia of Asheville, NC; brother, Arthur Belmont Falkner of Henderson, NC, and several very close nieces and nephews who saw her as a mother figure to them all.

Along with her husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Frances Daniel and Carolyn Brown.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 3:00 pm at Peacock - Newnam and White Funeral Home in Southport, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.

There's an old saying...better to remain silent and everyone think you are crazy than to open your mouth and prove them right. I'm not sure where I was last week when I dated the sermon for April rather than June. Hopefully this week i will get it right. Looking forward to seeing you view the service, better yet, come and join us. We would love to have you.

06/10/2026

Well, we finally did it. We were able to live stream our worship service on Sunday June 7. We will continue to do this every Sunday starting at 10:30. As always, we appreciate you tuning in to watch. Thank you for your patience as we worked the bugs out. Please feel free to join us in person. Everyone is welcome. God bless you all.
