An Evening with Bobby Jo Valentine: Thursday, September 17, 7:00 p.m. at Collister UMC
REGISTRATION OPEN - SEATING IS LIMITED!
We’re excited to welcome faith-rooted singer/songwriter Bobby Jo Valentine for an evening of thoughtful, hopeful music and stories about courage, spiritual depth, and finding the sacred in everyday life. A gay artist who grew up in a conservative Baptist church, Bobby Jo brings a vision of faith that is welcoming, open to growth, and centered in love. His music has found a home in churches and communities across the country, offering both beautiful art and a powerful witness to LGBTQ+ welcome. This concert is a collaboration with Boise First Presb, Hillview UMC, Whitney UMC, Hyde Park Mennonite Fellowship and Collister UMC! Our 5 churches are partnering together for our Pride book booth, and we’re especially glad to offer an evening that celebrates LGBTQIA+ people and creates space for meaningful connection, reflection, and joy. It will be a wonderful time of community and as a beautiful kick off to the Pride weekend! Tickets are free but registration is required due to limited seating. UPDATE! 75% of the way to our goal!
Let's keep the momentum going! After several months of reading, rating, and lots of thoughtful conversation, we’ve curated an excellent collection of books for this year’s Pride Booth. Now we need your help to reach 250 books by September 18! Take a look at the list, choose a book (or two!), and share the link with your friends, family and social media world! Books must be ordered by Sept 13 so they can make it into the hands of children and youth who visit our booth and spin the wheel to choose a book to take home. Every book is an opportunity for a young person to encounter a story that says: You belong. Your family belongs. There is a place for you in God’s beautiful, diverse, beloved creation. Volunteer firefighters are going the extra mile…literally!
The volunteers with the Sand Hollow Fire Department have been making the long drive to the fire lines, serving alongside crews from Parma and New Plymouth. As a volunteer department, they're covering their own fuel and many of their own supplies while they respond. If you'd like to support these local firefighters, we're collecting needed items at Collister UMC, 4400 W Taft St.
Drop-off times:
- Bring them Sunday morning at church (10:30)
- Tuesdays, 4:30–6:30 p.m. during the Tuesday Market
If you're able, please bring any of the requested supplies. Every donation is a tangible way to care for the people who are caring for our communities. Unfortunately our air quality continues to register at very dangerous levels, so our Tuesday Market is cancelled for tomorrow. However, the City of Good will have fresh produce and other goods available INSIDE the church from 9:00am-3:30pm all week long. Please stop by anytime during the week and come inside to shop for veggies and other items available this week! (Follow City of Good for up to date info on pick-of-the-week list)

Shop for fresh produce in your neighborhood! The Mobile Market, a partnership between the Boise Farmers Market and City of Good, provides access to locally grown produce with regularly scheduled weekday routes throughout Boise. Using a completely ‘pay what you choose’ model, our organizations are working together to ensure equitable access to local food for ALL Boise residents. We accept credit card, debit card, and cash.

Be sure to follow and on instagram for the latest info every week!

In 2025, we integrated a “pay what you choose” model at all Mobile Market stops. This means any customer shopping at the market has the choice to pay the amount they want for fresh, local food with no questions asked. That amount can be anywhere from $0 to retail price—our farmers get paid for their
product either way.
