🙌 I Am Among You as One Who Serves

While the disciples argued about who would be the greatest, Jesus showed them a different way—the way of humility, love, and service.

“I am among you as one who serves.” — Luke 22:27

Jesus reminds us that following Him isn’t about recognition or position. It’s about being willing to serve others with the gifts God has given us.

Today, consider where God might be calling you to serve. Is there a ministry at church where you can lend a hand? Is there someone in your community who needs encouragement, kindness, or support?

🙏 As you pray, ask Jesus to give you a servant’s heart and show you where you can make a difference.

🌾 The Harvest Is Plentiful, but the Laborers Are Few

When Jesus looked at the crowds, He saw people who were hurting, struggling, and in need of a shepherd. His response was compassion.

“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” — Matthew 9:37

That call still speaks to us today. There are people all around us who need to experience the grace and love of Jesus—and God calls each of us to be part of His work.

Who can you serve this week? ❤️
📞 Call or check on someone.
⛪ Invite a friend to worship.
🤝 Look for a need you can help meet.
🙏 Ask God to show you how your gifts can bless someone else.

As you pray, ask God to open your eyes to the people around you and to work through you as you serve.

🌿 Go Deeper: Discipleship Bands

We were never meant to follow Jesus alone. Sometimes we need a few trusted friends who will listen, pray, encourage us, and help us grow deeper in our relationship with Christ.

A Discipleship Band is a small group of three to five men or women who meet weekly for honest conversation and prayer. It’s intentionally small, creating space to move beyond surface-level conversations and ask meaningful questions like:

đź’ How is it with your soul?
🙌 What are your successes and struggles?
đź“– How might the Word and Spirit be speaking into your life?
❤️ When you’re ready to go deeper, is there something you need to confess or bring into the light?

Discipleship Bands don’t replace Sunday school or small groups—they complement them by providing a place for deeper spiritual friendship, accountability, and prayer.

Ecclesiastes reminds us, “Two are better than one.” We are stronger when we have people beside us who will encourage us, pray for us, and continually point us toward Jesus.

🙏 Could God be calling you to go deeper?

As you pray today, ask the Holy Spirit whether a Discipleship Band might be your next step. If you’re interested in connecting with others, contact the church office, and we’ll help you get started.

Wednesday nights at Bixby First Methodist are truly unforgettable! 🙌
We're thrilled to share that our adult class, Practicing the Sabbath, had an amazing turnout with over 37 attendees, all coming together to learn and grow in their faith. 🙏 The energy in the room was electric, and we're so grateful for the opportunity to connect with one another on a deeper level.
💡 Meanwhile, our children's ministry was buzzing with excitement as they enjoyed the Daily Devo Show! 🎉 The kids had an absolute blast, and we're loving seeing them develop a strong foundation in their faith. 🙌 We're so thankful for our amazing leaders and volunteers who make these Wednesday nights possible. If you haven't joined us yet, we'd love to see you next week! 🎉

🤝 Who Helps You Grow?

John Wesley knew that we need more than a crowd around us—we need a few trusted people who will pray with us, encourage us, and help us grow closer to Jesus.

Early Methodists formed small groups called Bands. These groups of five to ten people met for deeper spiritual friendship, honest conversation, prayer, and accountability. Their goal wasn’t perfection—it was growing in God’s grace together.

When they gathered, they asked each other meaningful questions about their struggles, temptations, victories, doubts, and spiritual lives. They created a trusted place where people could be honest and help one another keep moving toward Christ.

That idea still matters.

We all need Christian friends with whom we can be real—people who will listen without judgment, pray for us, encourage us when we struggle, celebrate our growth, and point us back to Jesus. ❤️

đź’ Who knows the real you and encourages you to grow in your faith?

🙏 As you pray today, ask the Holy Spirit to place a trusted Christian friend in your life with whom you can grow in grace. And ask God how you can be that kind of friend for someone else.

Faith gets stronger when we stop trying to grow alone.
