🙌 Equipped by God

When God called Jeremiah, he immediately felt unprepared: “I do not know how to speak.” Many of us feel the same way when God calls us to serve, lead, encourage, or step out in faith. We wonder if we are capable, qualified, or ready. 💭

But God reminded Jeremiah that the calling was never about Jeremiah’s strength alone. God Himself would equip him.

“Now I have put my words in your mouth.” — Jeremiah 1:9 ✝️

God does not call perfect people—He equips willing people. The Lord gives us the gifts, wisdom, courage, and strength we need for the work He places before us. It is not about what we can do on our own; it is about what God can do through us. 💛

Jeremiah was called to speak truth, hope, warning, and renewal to God’s people. In the same way, God can use your voice, your kindness, your service, and your faithfulness to encourage and bless others.

You may feel unequipped, but God is already preparing you for the purpose He has called you to fulfill.

🙏 Ask God to show you how He has gifted and equipped you to serve others and share His love this week.

⛺🔥 What an incredible week at Dayspring Camp!

Our students returned home with full hearts after a week filled with powerful worship, meaningful friendships, and intentional time spent studying God's Word. Throughout the week, they were challenged to grow deeper in their faith, build lasting connections with one another, and discover more about who God is calling them to be.

We are so thankful for the camp staff, leaders, and volunteers who invested in our students, and we praise God for the ways He moved in their lives. Seeing students worship together, engage in Scripture, and encourage one another was a beautiful reminder that God is at work in the next generation. ✝️❤️

Please continue praying for our youth as they return home—that the lessons learned, friendships formed, and commitments made will continue to bear fruit in their lives throughout the year.

✨🗣️ Your Excuse and God’s Answer

When God called Jeremiah to serve, his first response was an excuse: “I’m too young. I don’t know how to speak.” Sound familiar? 💭

So many of us respond the same way when God calls us to serve:
“I’m not qualified.”
“I’m too busy.”
“I’m not a leader.”
“I wouldn’t know what to say.”

But God’s response to Jeremiah is the same response He gives us today: “Do not be afraid… for I am with you.” ✝️

God does not call people because they are perfect, confident, or fully prepared. God calls ordinary people and walks with them every step of the way. The power is not in our ability—it is in God’s presence.

If God is calling you to encourage someone, serve, lead, pray, teach, invite, or step out in faith, trust that He will give you what you need. 💛

Your excuses do not limit God’s ability to work through you.

🙏 Ask God to help you trust His calling and courageously say “yes” to the ways He is leading you today.

God Knows You and Calls You.
The Lord called Jeremiah to the hard work of a prophet when he was only sixteen years old. The word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying, 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” The Lord is our Creator; life is God’s gift to us. God knew Jeremiah before he was even a twinkle in his parents’ eyes, and God had a plan for Jeremiah’s life. God called Jeremiah to be a prophet. The whole thing was God’s idea, not Jeremiah’s. If most people were given a choice, they would not choose to grow up to become an abrasive prophet who goes to the palace to tell the king that he’s a fool and that his kingdom will be destroyed. God knows you, too. God knew you before you existed, and God had a plan for your life before you were even born. God calls people to go into the messy places in the world to speak God’s Word. God still calls people today. God just may be calling you to go into the dangerous places and speak God’s Word.
🙏As you pray, listen for how God is calling you.
📖Read Job 10-13; Jeremiah 1:4-5; Psalm 139:13-18.

🗣️✨ God’s Continual Call to Jeremiah

Jeremiah lived during one of the hardest seasons in Israel’s history. Nations rose and fell around him. Fear, uncertainty, and heartbreak surrounded the people of Judah. Yet through every season, God continued to call Jeremiah to listen, speak, and serve. ✝️

God’s call was not just a one-time moment—it was an ongoing relationship. Again and again, God spoke, and Jeremiah learned to keep listening.

The same is true for us today. God continues to guide, shape, and call us throughout our lives. Sometimes God calls us to encourage someone, serve others, speak truth, show compassion, or remain faithful during difficult seasons. 💛

Even when life changes around us, God remains faithful and continues to invite us into His purpose.

How might God be calling you today?

🙏 Take time to listen for God’s voice and ask Him to show you how you can serve Him and others this week.

Faith for Tough Times - The Message of Jeremiah

How do you keep going when your life falls apart and you feel all alone?

The Prophet Jeremiah lived in a time when people felt broken, abandoned, and hopeless. God sent Jeremiah to share in their suffering, offer them comfort, and let them know that God would give them a future with hope.

Join us as we explore how Jeremiah's life and words help us develop a Faith for Tough Times.

Welcome to Bixby First Methodist Church. Today we will begin a new sermon series called Faith for Tough Times: the Message of Jeremiah. We’ll begin by taking a closer look at the way God called Jeremiah when he was a teenager to serve as a prophet, and we’ll discuss how each of us is Born with a Purpose.
