⚠️ COMMUNITY NOTICE: CYBERSECURITY ALERT
Church Family, Please Be Alert
A phishing scam is currently circulating within our church community. Fraudulent event invitations may appear to come from legitimate services such as Paperless Post, Eventbrite, or Punchbowl.
These messages may ask you to click “Accept” or “RSVP.” Clicking suspicious links can potentially expose your phone, computer, or other connected devices to malware that may:
• Steal usernames, passwords, and other personal information
• Access sensitive accounts, including banking and home security applications
• Send malicious messages to people in your contacts
• Compromise additional accounts and devices
What You Should Do
DO NOT click any links or RSVP buttons in an unexpected or suspicious invitation.
Instead: 1. Mark the message as Spam or Phishing. 2. Delete the email or message immediately. 3. Contact the person who supposedly sent the invitation directly to verify that it is legitimate. 4. If it is a legitimate event, RSVP through a verified method rather than clicking the suspicious link.
This type of scam has already been received by members of our church community.
Please share this notice with family, friends, and fellow church members. Staying alert and taking a few simple precautions can help protect our personal information, devices, and financial accounts.
When in doubt, DON’T CLICK — VERIFY FIRST!
