Mt. Calvary awarded its annual scholarships on May 10, 2025. One scholarship was awarded to Fredaisha Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Williams. She is a senior at Marlboro County High School. A second scholarship was awarded to Christain Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Miller. She is a senior at Cheraw High.
Retired Army Major Tonjesia Gilchrist from Charleston, SC was the guest speaker. Ms. Juvonna Gilchrist from Simpsonville, SC was the MC.
Miss Williams received a scholarship in the amount of $1000. She plans to attend Fayetteville State University. Miss Miller received a scholarship in the amount of $1500. She plans to attend the University of South Carolina Columbia campus.
The scholarship committee members in attendance were Steven F. Gilchrist, Cheryl Lewis, Latroy Hubbard, Juvonna Gilchrist, and Tonjesia Gilchrist. Kayla Lewis was not in attendance. Taj Gilchrist provided the music for the event. Brother Harvey Johnson and Bishop Waymond Gilchrist assisted in presenting the checks. Sisters Stacey Townsend, Diasia Williams, Jada Ford, and Nakia Dunn were Hostesses. Food was catered by Chick-fil-a.
