Jesus never commanded the Church to simply gather crowds, maintain programs, or preserve institutions. His commission was clear:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19)
Yet one of the greatest challenges facing many congregations today is not a lack of ministries—it is the absence of an intentional system for making disciples.
To help address this need, I am excited to announce the launch of Be Disciples 101 LIVE, a new six-session online academy designed to equip churches to build, strengthen, and sustain a culture of disciple-making.

Building an Intentional Discipleship System for the Local Church
This interactive Zoom academy is built upon the biblical foundations of disciple-making, the Wesleyan tradition, The Book of Discipline, and the practical framework developed in my book, Be Disciples 101: A Handbook for Being the Church.
Together we will explore how churches can move from simply offering programs to intentionally developing disciples who know Christ, grow in Christ, and show Christ’s love in the world.
During this six-session academy participants will learn how to:
Develop a comprehensive discipleship system for their congregation.
Create a clear pathway from first-time guest to mature disciple.
Build a culture of disciple-making rather than program maintenance.
Develop disciple-making leaders and mentoring relationships.
Measure spiritual growth and ministry effectiveness.
Align worship, mission, leadership, and outreach around the Church’s primary mission.
Each session combines biblical teaching, Wesleyan theology, practical church leadership, interactive workshops, and implementation tools that participants can immediately apply within their local congregations.

Academy Details
Six Live Zoom Sessions
Beginning: Monday, August 11
Time: 7:00 p.m. (Eastern)
Duration: Approximately 45–50 minutes per session
Participants will receive practical resources throughout the academy, including leadership guides, discipleship assessments, worksheets, planning tools, and implementation resources to assist their churches in developing a sustainable disciple-making system.
A Personal Invitation
For more than twenty-five years I have served local congregations, taught discipleship, and worked alongside churches seeking renewal. One lesson has become increasingly clear: churches rarely drift into effective discipleship. They become disciple-making churches through prayerful, intentional leadership and faithful systems that help people grow in Christ.
My prayer is that this academy will encourage pastors and lay leaders across our connection to reclaim disciple-making as the central work of the local church.
