Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was not only a leader of a movement he was a servant of God who believed deeply that faith must be lived out loud. Grounded in the teachings of Jesus Christ, Dr. King reminded the world that love is not passive, justice is not optional, and peace is not weak.
He believed, as Scripture tells us, that “faith without works is dead” (James 2:17). His faith compelled him to stand against injustice, not with hatred or violence, but with courage, dignity, and love. He taught us that darkness cannot drive out darkness only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate only love can do that.
Dr. King challenged the church to be more than a place of worship; he called it to be a force for transformation. He urged believers to speak when it is uncomfortable, to act when it is costly, and to trust God even when the road ahead is uncertain.
As, we honor his legacy not only by remembering his words, but by living them by loving our neighbors, seeking justice, walking humbly with God, and standing firm in hope. May we, like Dr. King, dare to dream God-sized dreams and commit ourselves to being instruments of His peace.
