Jesus Is Lord of the Sabbath

"23 One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain. 24 The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?”

25 He answered, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? 26 In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.”

27 Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. 28 So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” (NIV)

Sermon: "True Colors"
Sermon Scripture: Acts 8:9-13 & 18-24;

9 Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great, 10 and all the people, both high and low, gave him their attention and exclaimed, “This man is rightly called the Great Power of God.” 11 They followed him because he had amazed them for a long time with his sorcery. 12 But when they believed Philip as he proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13 Simon himself believed and was baptized. And he followed Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw.

18 When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money 19 and said, “Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”
20 Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! 21 You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. 22 Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord in the hope that he may forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. 23 For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.”
24 Then Simon answered, “Pray to the Lord for me so that nothing you have said may happen to me.”

Today at Belton Christian Church, we celebrated our Back to School Blessing Sunday!
We are so grateful for the amazing teachers and support staff in our church family who pour their hearts into educating, encouraging, and caring for children each and every day.
We prayed over them as they begin another school year, asking God to give them wisdom, patience, strength, and plenty of grace for the days ahead.

And now for a little fun…

But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool. For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy."

Shoutout Sunday! 🎨⛪️ This week, we’re celebrating the people who help make Belton Christian Church a welcoming place!

A huge thank you to Christian, Ioane, Daisy, Maddie, and Carter for completing our painting project on the outside doorway and entryway to Person Hall! A special shoutout to Christian Asaeli for planning and executing the project, and to Ioane Asaeli for helping lead the team from start to finish.

This is what church family is all about — showing up, serving together, and taking care of the place we call home. ❤️

We’re especially proud of our young people (the future of our ministry), who could have spent their Saturday doing anything else, but instead chose to show up, serve, and finish what they committed to. That kind of dedication is something worth celebrating!

Thank you for sharing your time, talents, and hard work with our church family. We are so grateful for each of you!

Our Christian Women’s Fellowship (CWF) group gathered today at BCC for an afternoon filled with food, fun, laughter, & fellowship! What a wonderful way to celebrate the beginning of a new year of ministry together.

August truly feels like the start of a new chapter, & we’d love for YOU to be a part of it! CWF hosts a variety of events, gatherings, & opportunities to connect, grow, serve, & encourage one another. All women are welcome & invited to join our CWF family! 🌸☕️

Because let’s be honest — you can never have too many women in your corner, cheering you on, praying for you, and walking alongside you. 🫶🏻
