We exist to Love God - Grow People & Care for The World!

A couple Sundays ago, we celebrated the pastoral commissioning of Alex Allyne! 🎉

At Hillcrest, we believe every person is called to a life of ministry: to love God and others through the ways He has called, wired, and gifted us.

We also believe God calls and gifts certain people to serve as pastors: caring for people, providing spiritual guidance, and helping others grow in their faith and discover how God has called them to serve.

As Ephesians 4:11–12 reminds us, God gives pastors and leaders to “equip the saints for the work of ministry.” Through prayer, careful discernment, and the affirmation of our church council, we joyfully commissioned Alex to serve in pastoral ministry.

We are grateful for God’s call on Alex’s life and excited to see how Alex will help our church love God, grow together, and care for the world. ❤️

What is a liturgy? A liturgy is a written prayer that gives us words to help us worship, reflect, and draw closer to God.

This season, we have been diving into the 10 commandments or the "10 words of life" found in Exodus 20. This week, we encourage you to spend time with the 10 Words of Life, transformed into a liturgy written by a member of our Hillcrest congregation, Jenny Figgie. This prayer invites us to hear these 10 commandments not simply as rules to follow, but as a reminder of WHO God is and HOW we are called to live.

There’s no special formula for praying a liturgy. Read it slowly. Read it prayerfully. Come back to it each day this week. Notice what stands out to you, and let the words wash over you as you make space to listen for God! May we remember who GOD is and, in turn, who WE are called to be.

Church is for them, too 🧡 At Hillcrest, we believe our kids aren’t just the future of the church; they’re an important part of the church RIGHT NOW. That’s why, during every service, we pray a blessing over them as they head to Sunday School, reminding them that they are loved, known, and part of our church family!

We’re grateful for every child who walks through our doors and for the people who faithfully serve them every Sunday 🙌

The opposite of stealing isn’t just honesty… it’s generosity 🎁 “Do not steal” is more than a command about what we shouldn’t take. God is forming us from TAKERS into GIVERS! Jesus invites us into a different way of living, because he was the ultimate giver ✝️ What would it look like this week to move from “What can I get?” to “What can I give?”

Check out the link in our bio and/or our YouTube channel to watch this past Sunday’s sermon 🎥
