On Sunday, Pastor Devon wrapped up our JOY series in Philippians 4 with a question: What dominates your desires? Is it a reach for more, or gratitude for what you already have?

Paul gives us three reasons to have joy.

💙 We can be content no matter our circumstances, because contentment is learned, it’s a choice, and it’s found in Christ.
💙 We have the peace of God, and we find it through prayer, by choosing what we focus our minds on, and by asking God for His perspective on life.
💙 The third reason is the one Pastor Devon left us with: our name is written in the book of life. That joy doesn’t depend on anything happening around us, because heaven is our home.

It’s not too late to make sure your name is in the book. Romans 10:9 and Acts 16:31 show us that it starts with believing in Jesus.

Thank you for walking through this series with us. If you missed any of them, or want to hear one again, you can always watch our past messages here: https://vimeo.com/showcase/7026859

Thank you, Don Ross, for leading both services this weekend and sharing “Faith in the Furnace” with us. We’re grateful for you and the Northwest Ministry Network.

From Daniel 3, Don reminded us that suffering will happen, that it builds character, and that Jesus is with us in the fire. Our faith gets proven genuine in the hard places, and Isaiah 43 tells us we never walk through them alone. If you’re in a hard season, hold on. A better day is coming.

It’s the season of gratitude, and we’re starting it in the lobby, celebrating Pastor Appreciation Month.

We’ve set out a collection box for quick notes to our pastors. If a sermon meant something to you this year, or a prayer landed at just the right time, let them know. A few words is plenty. Bring yours any Sunday in October.

Sign up in the lobby this Sunday and bring a soup or pie to share. Bring a friend, meet someone new, or grab a seat next to someone you’ve known for years. We’d love to see you there.

On Sunday, Pastor Tyson continued our Philippians series in chapter 3 with a message on moving forward.

In this chapter, Paul describes faith as a race, one we run facing forward with our eyes on the prize. But no ritual or good behavior brings us closer to Jesus. It’s by His grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. That’s why we run: not to earn our place, but because grace already gave us one.

The race isn’t about speed or agility. We all trip and stumble. What matters is that we get back up and keep going, humbly. Our past doesn’t define us; we can let it refine us instead. Knowing Jesus isn’t passive, and He’s worth running toward.

Is anything keeping you from the joy of knowing Jesus? Whether you’re just starting out or feeling worn down, we’d love to have you with us this Sunday at 9AM or 11AM.
