🙏🏾 Pray for Beaumont 🙏🏾

As a church family, we are deeply saddened by the recent acts of violence in our community and the tragic loss of young lives. Our hearts go out to every family that is grieving, every friend who is hurting, and every neighborhood impacted by these senseless events.

Now more than ever, we must turn to God in prayer. We pray for peace in our city, protection for our youth, comfort for the bereaved, wisdom for our leaders, and a renewed commitment to love, respect, and value one another.

God's Word declares:

"If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
— 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)

Starlight Missionary Baptist Church invites our members, friends, and the entire community to join us in praying for Beaumont. May God heal our land, strengthen our families, and guide our young people in the path of righteousness and peace.

"Don't Abandon Your Assignment" | 2 Thess. 3:11-13 ESV

Today's message challenged us to remain focused on the work God has called us to do and not allow distractions to pull us away from our divine assignment.

In his letter to the church at Thessalonica, the Apostle Paul noticed something troubling among the believers. While some were faithfully serving and working, others had become idle. Paul specifically noted that certain individuals were "not busy at work, but busybodies" (v. 11), spending their time involved in matters that did not belong to them rather than fulfilling their own responsibilities.

Pastor Walker reminded us that there is a significant difference between being occupied and being effective. Many people are busy, but not all busyness is productive. Distractions can consume our time, attention, and energy, causing us to lose sight of what God has assigned us to do. When we become overly focused on the affairs of others, we risk neglecting the purpose God has placed before us.

The message also challenged us to consider an important question: Have you submitted to what's going on in your life, or have you submitted yourself to God's will for your life? What shapes our minds ultimately shapes our priorities. If our thoughts are consumed by distractions, our actions will follow. But when our minds are centered on God and His purpose, our lives become more fruitful and effective.

Paul's words, "We command and encourage," demonstrate both spiritual authority and loving concern. He urged believers to live disciplined lives, work faithfully, and remain committed to their responsibilities as followers of Christ.

The sermon concluded with the powerful encouragement found in verse 13: "As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good." Doing good can be exhausting. Serving others, remaining faithful, maintaining integrity, and standing for what is right can sometimes feel overwhelming. Yet God calls His people to persevere, knowing that our labor in the Lord is never in vain.

As Pastor Walker reminded us, we are Kingdom disciples! Let us stay focused on our God-given assignment, resist distractions, avoid becoming entangled in matters that hinder our witness, and continue doing good for the glory of God.

As we prepare to observe the Ordinance of the Lord's Supper tomorrow, let us remember the great sacrifice our Savior made on Calvary. The cup reminds us of His precious blood that was shed for the forgiveness of our sins, our redemption, and our reconciliation to God.

"For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." — Matthew 26:28 (NKJV)
