On Sunday, we finished up Luke chapter 14. Pastor Obbie showed us that by faith in Christ, salvation costs us nothing. And it costs us everything. To follow Jesus, we must love Him more than our own families, our possessions, and our own lives. More than God’s love FOR us, the cross is a picture of the self-denying love He demands FROM us.

Meet Ryan Thomason.

Ryan has joined our staff as Counseling Pastor and will provide pastoral oversight for biblical counseling. Ryan is married to Madison and together they have three children: Everly, Levi, and Silas. Before joining the staff at Cross, Ryan owned and operated Biblical Help and Hope Ministries, a biblical counseling practice in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He has also served the local church in a variety of ministry roles over the years. Ryan earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a Master of Divinity with a concentration in Biblical Counseling from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is passionate about helping people apply the hope and truth of Scripture to the realities of everyday life. When he is not working, you can usually find him enjoying a good cup of coffee, reading a good book, or looking for a quiet place to do both. In his role as counseling pastor, Ryan will assume primary oversight of the counseling ministry from Pastor Rob Williams. He will provide individual counseling for men, marital counseling, lead and equip the congregation’s lay counseling ministry, and partner with the discipleship ministries to ensure the faithful shepherding and care of the church’s membership. We are blessed to have Ryan step into this role to serve our church family!

Ten years ago this month, Cross Community Church had its first official employee! Pastor Taylor began focusing full-time on planting Cross in August of 2016. At this point, our launch team had been meeting for over 9 months and preparing for our public launch in January 2017. We are so thankful and grateful for the ten years that Taylor has poured into our church family. The intentionality in every sermon, the counseling and encouragement as he pastors and shepherds our flock, and the wisdom he imparts to our staff and elders. He for sure has "caused His name to remembered in ALL generations, therefore the nations will praise Him forever and ever." Thank you, Taylor, for your commitment to preaching the Gospel and making disciples!

This Sunday is a fifth Sunday of the month which means Family Worship! We are so excited to have all of our Elementary CROSSkids joining their parents in worship at all three worship gatherings. CROSSkids will be available for children 6 months-PRE-K. Our 9:45 a.m. gathering tends to fill up quickly in both the sanctuary and in our Early Childhood classes. If possible, consider attending at 8:00 or 11:30 a.m. See you Sunday for Family Worship!
