Throughout our series in Ecclesiastes, I’ve selected a different song each week that reflects something the writer is wrestling with as he considers life “under the sun.” That’s why I’ve intentionally chosen secular songs. Ecclesiastes is full of observations about the human experience, and popular music often captures those same struggles and questions remarkably well. Paul McCartney wrote this week’s song during a particularly difficult and uncertain season of his life. After wrestling through it and having an unforgettable dream (more details tomorrow), he wrote “Let It Be.”

There’s something about that simple phrase that resonates with all of us. Life doesn’t always unfold the way we expect. Things happen that we never would have chosen. And sometimes, no matter how hard we try, there are things we simply cannot change. We often refer to these circumstances as our “lot in life.”

Before tomorrow’s message, I want you to spend a little time thinking about a simple question: If you could change your lot in life, would you? What would you change? What would you keep? How much of your life has turned out differently than you once imagined? Would you change those things?

As I’ve been preparing, this has become one of my favorite messages in the series, and one I think we’ll find ourselves coming back to again and again. It’s so relevant for every single one of us, regardless of what season of life we’re in. Tomorrow will be one to remember. Don’t miss it!

Most of us have a complicated relationship with money, often believing that more of it will bring security and satisfaction. But Scripture tells a different story. Ecclesiastes and 1 Timothy both warn that the love of money leads not to fulfillment, but to restlessness, spiritual danger, and ruin. The real trap is not wealth itself, but the illusion of control and self-sufficiency it creates. Jesus modeled the alternative: He gave up everything so that we could be made truly rich. When we understand what He has already deposited into our lives, generosity stops feeling like a loss and starts feeling like a privilege. True privilege is not defined by what you have. It is defined by what you are free to give.

There’s a term that’s become increasingly popular in recent years: “Affluenza.” It’s a combination of two words: affluence (wealth) and influenza (the flu). It describes an unhealthy obsession with money and possessions, where the pursuit of MORE becomes almost like a disease, gradually affecting the way we think, live, and measure our happiness. This is anything but a new problem.

In Ecclesiastes 5, the writer explores the meaninglessness of pursuing wealth and accumulating possessions. He observes that the more we have, the more we seem to want. And the relentless pursuit of wealth doesn’t just leave us empty, it can actually leave us frustrated, dissatisfied, and even angry. In the New Testament, the Apostle Paul offers similar warnings about money and wealth. And Jesus Himself spoke about money and possessions more often than we might expect. Whether we like to admit it or not, money is a significant part of our lives. And every single one of us has a relationship with it. The question is whether that relationship is a healthy one. That’s exactly what we’re going to explore this Sunday as we continue our series through Ecclesiastes.

Now, I realize that sermons about money have a reputation for leaving people feeling guilty, pressured, or obligated to give more. But I can assure you, that’s not what you’re going to experience at Reach Church this Sunday. In fact, my hope is that you’ll walk away feeling lighter and freer than ever in your own relationship with money and possessions.

If Jesus took all the punishment for our sins, what’s left to fear? God isn’t rejecting you, giving up on you, or running out of patience. His grace is endless, His commitment is unwavering, and He’s never checking out.

Enjoy this message from Pastor Tyler Schoenberger called "The White Horse" Injustice is everywhere, and it is easy to feel overwhelmed or hopeless when the innocent suffer and the guilty walk free. But our very ability to recognize something as wrong points to a standard of justice that comes from God Himself. Christians are called to neither ignore injustice nor believe they can eradicate it entirely on their own. We live in the tension of the already but not yet, where Jesus is already King and sin is already defeated, yet injustice still exists. We are called to act, to care for the vulnerable, and to reflect the character of God in a broken world. And we hold onto this hope: the one called Faithful and True is coming to right every wrong and make all things new.

Many believers quietly wonder if God is disappointed in them, but Scripture tells a very different story. If you are in Christ, God's settled attitude toward you does not shift based on your performance, your failures, or your broken promises. Jesus took every punishment for every sin on the cross, and Romans 8:1 makes it clear that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. It is not God's anger that produces lasting change in a believer's life. Romans 2:4 reminds us that it is His kindness and patience that lead us to genuine repentance. God is not sitting in heaven waiting for you to fail. He is rooting for you, building you up, and His love for you in Christ is settled, permanent, and unchanging.
