SeLah Productions, Inc., (SPI) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization in the Performing Arts for Gospel Stage Play Productions under the Direction of Founder, Writer, Director, & Producer, JaVon Ophelia Butler, MPA. The word “Selah” is found in two books of the Bible in the Old Testament. In Psalm, the word appears 71 times. It also appears three times in third chapter of the minor prophet Habakkuk
. “Selah” is also thought to be rendered from the Hebrew words: s_lah; “to praise;” s_lal, “to lift up;” salah, “to pause.” The best way to think of “Selah” is a combination of all of these meanings. The Amplified Bible adds “pause and calmly think about that.” The meaning of Selah describes what the Gospel Stage Play Productions are trying to accomplish through acting, singing, and dancing. The Cast of SPI are displaying these gifts so that the audience would pause, meditate, and praise! We strive to help our audience to pause and carefully think about what they have just heard, lifting their hearts in praise to God for His great truths. “All the earth bows down to you; they sing praise to you, they sing praise to your Name. Selah! (Psalm 66:4)
