Our Savior's is an ELCA Lutheran Church in Barnesville, MN. It was founded in 1889. The first church building cornerstone was laid on July 10, 1898. In 1932, a committee was selected to review the need for adequate space for the growing membership. Due to financial conditions, the matter was dropped until 1936, when the recommendation was accepted to build a new church rather than remodel the existing structure. Thorvold Thorson of Forest City, Iowa, was retained as the architect and presented plans for the construction of the new stone structure with dimensions of 34 by 36 feet with a seating capacity of 300 people. Cornerstone exercises for the new church building were held July 10, 1938. In the Fall of 1958, it was decided the time had come for more classrooms. Construction began on a two-story addition to house 14 classrooms, two assembly rooms, a pastor's office and a storeroom. These cornerstone ceremonies were held on July 10, 1960. By coincidence, the first three cornerstones were all laid on July 10 in 1898, 1938, and 1960. In 1993, another addition was completed to provide additional office space, a gathering area and handicapped accessibility. The existing structure - built of field stone from Minnesota - is a landmark in Barnesville, Minnesota, known as "The Stone Church" by many residents of the area. Our Savior's Lutheran Church is indeed "built on the rock" of Jesus Christ.

Not everyone can volunteer during VBS week—but that doesn’t mean you can’t be part of the impact. This year, the Education committee has created an Amazon Wishlist filled with supplies that will help ensure another VBS program that is truly special for the kids. From craft materials to decorations and hands-on activities, every item helps bring the experience to life! Thank you for supporting VBS in a way that works for you. It truly takes a village!
