First English Lutheran Church First English seeks to spread the love of Christ, welcome all unconditionally, and actively care for God's people. We worship at 10 a.m. Join us.

We are a Reconciling in Christ Congregation that welcomes people of all orientations, identities, and expressions. Sundays and on special festivals. Bible Study is offered Thursdays.

The 10 am worship for the 4th Sunday after Pentecost (June 21, 2026) was based on Romans 15:1-7 which urges Christians to be welcoming and encouraging. It is also Holy Humor Sunday, Father’s Day, and we are focusing on the part of our church mission statement that says we will are “welcoming and accepting all people unconditionally.” The Rev. Sandra Carlson Alexis preached and officiated.

The deacon was Karen Stahl; the reader was Julie Enger; Zoe Bassett was the crucifer; the ushers were was Mike and Michelle Olmstead. The Psalm of the day was Psalm 69:7-10, 15-18. The songs included “Great is Thy Faithfulness,” “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee,” and “Faith of our Fathers.” Special communion music was “Aria Con Variazioni” by G.F. Handel. Music was led by our Minister of Music Joann Moorer. Thanks to Zoe Bassett for her musical talent.

The 10 am worship for the 3rd Sunday after Pentecost (June 14, 2026) was based on Romans 4:13-25 where Paul offers the example of Abraham’s faith. It is also Graduate Blessing Sunday and we are focusing the part of our church mission statement that says “to spread the love and teachings of Jesus by reaching out to those in need. The Rev. Sandra Carlson Alexis preached and officiated.

The deacon was Anna Treskon; the reader was Mary Ellen Evanko; Mae Evanko was the crucifer; Michelle Olmstead was the communion helper; the usher was Mike Olmstead. The Psalm of the day was Psalm 100. The songs included “My Hope is Built on Nothing Less,””Borning Cry,” and “O Lord of the Blossom.” Music for this service is from Of the Land and Seasons liturgy was led by our Minister of Music Joann Moorer and cantor Jorge Ramirez-Sanchez. Thanks for the musical talents of Eric Stahl, Karen Stahl, Jane Santoni Smith, Patti Stude, and Pastor Sandy.

The 10 am worship for the 2nd Sunday after Pentecost (June 7, 2026) was based on Romans 13:8-14 where Paul tells the Christian church that loving one another fulfills the goal of the law. It is also Refugee Sunday and we are focusing on spreading love” from our church mission statement. The Rev. Sandra Carlson Alexis preached and officiated.

The deacon was Lara Alexis; the reader was Amy Horst; Abby and Sara Alexis were the crucifers; Ryan B. was the communion helper; the ushers were Wayne Prem and John Rolker. The Psalm of the day was Psalm 50:7-15. The songs included “Arise, Shine,” “Change My Heart O God,” “What Now?,” and “They’ll Know We are Christians by Our Love.” Music for this service was led by our First English Band: Norah Worthington, Eric Stahl, Karen Stahl, and Jane Santoni Smith Stahl and led by Chris Bassett.

Pentecost: Psalm 104:24-27. 32-35b was sung responsively with the choir. We sang "God of Tempest, God of Whirlwind,” “Every Time I Feel the Spirit,” and “You are Holy.” The choral prelude was “O Holy Spirit Lord of Grace” (Christopher Tye). The communion anthem was ”Prayer of St. Francis” (Allen Pote, arr. Robert Delgado). Music was led by our Minister of Music and choirmaster Joann Moorer along the First English Choir: Leah Inger, Chet Myers, Jorge Ramirez-Sanchez, Dorothy Stalberg, Mairin Srygley, and Norah Worthington.
