"I have so much potential" feels like the goal to chase — in a career, in life, in basically everything. In last week's message, Pastor Michael pushed back on that idea. Potential is about what you could become someday. Calling is about what's actually right in front of you.

The example used was someone who'd been at the very top of his field — mentored by the best, headed for a prestigious career — who traded all of that for something far less impressive-looking, but more real.

His grandfather came to faith in his mid-30s. His grandmother wasn't there yet, and she left. Years later, remarried and struggling, she had nothing to feed her family.

When he heard, he didn't wait for an apology or an explanation. He bought a cow, had it slaughtered, and delivered the meat to her door himself. When she said she had nowhere to store it, he went out and bought her a freezer too.

No conversation about who owed what. Just someone showing up with exactly what was needed.
