We’re excited to announce the return of the St. Olaf newsletter, with a new name: Pews & Previews!

Each edition will keep you up to date on announcements, upcoming events, ministry activities, and highlights from our church community. Our fall edition looks back on a busy and meaningful summer while looking ahead to all that’s happening this fall.

Labor Day Weekend Worship

A reminder that this Sunday, September 6, 2026, we will have a single worship service at 9:30 AM in observance of Labor Day Weekend. We will proceed with our regular worship schedule the following Sunday, with services at 8:15 AM and 10:45 AM. We look forward to gathering together for worship this Labor Day Weekend!

🎶 Join the Hosanna Choir! 🎶

Calling all singers ages 4–17! The Hosanna Choir meets Wednesdays from 6:00 PM – 6:30 PM and sings a variety of music while performing during the 8:15 AM worship service twice a month. Whether your child wants to grow musically or simply have fun singing with friends, the Hosanna Choir is a wonderful opportunity! Our first rehearsal is September 9, 2026! Come sing, grow musically, and have fun with friends! 🎵

Welcome to Our Church Family, Pastor Stacy Malzhan 💙🎉

We are beyond thrilled to announce that Pastor Stacy Malzhan has accepted the call to serve at St. Olaf Lutheran Church! Her first day with us will be September 27, 2026, and we could not be more excited to welcome her to our church family!

This is an exciting new chapter in the life of St. Olaf, and we look forward to all that God has in store for our congregation as we move forward together. We are grateful for the gifts, leadership, and ministry Pastor Stacy will bring to our church, and we pray that her time at St. Olaf will be filled with meaningful connections, joyful ministry, and many opportunities to grow together in faith.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Call Committee, who played such an important role in helping us find our new pastor. Thank you for the countless hours of time, care, and dedication you poured into this process. Your hard work and commitment helped lead us to this exciting new chapter for St. Olaf, and we are truly grateful for each of you!

Now it is our turn as a congregation to welcome Pastor Stacy with open hearts and open arms! Please join us in giving Pastor Stacy a warm St. Olaf welcome! Be sure to introduce yourself, wear your name tag, and take the opportunity to get to know her. We are so excited to have her join our church family and look forward to worshiping, serving, learning, and growing together.

What a wonderful week! Another Fair Diner is officially in the books, and we’re so grateful to call it another success! 🍽️🥧💛

Putting this event together takes a lot of time, teamwork, and dedication, so we want to send a heartfelt thank you to all of our hardworking staff and volunteers! Your time, energy, and commitment made it all possible and we truly couldn’t have done it without you!!

And to everyone who stopped by, enjoyed a meal, and supported our church, thank you! We’re so blessed to have such a wonderful community and appreciate each and every one of you.

Hera Hessenia traveled all the way from Manhattan, Kansas—ruby red organ shoes in hand—to check out our pipe organ! A current Master’s student at Kansas State University with degrees in piano performance and physics, Hera has family ties to Austin. She reached out to our Cantor, Kalle Akkerman, brimming with excitement to visit and play our magnificent instrument! Thank you so much for sharing your incredible talent with us Hera, we can’t wait to have you back! 🎶

School Supply Drive for Lutheran World Relief! 🎒📒✏️✂️🎨

We are thrilled to partner with Lutheran World Relief to assemble school kits for children around the globe! Thank you so much to those who have already donated! We'll be collecting items in the bin outside the sanctuary and outside of the church office throughout the month!

Here is what goes into each kit:
- 4 notebooks (wide- or college-ruled, 8” x 10.5”)
- 1 box of crayons (16-count or 24-count)
- ruler (30 cm, or dual cm/inches)
- 1 pencil sharpener
- 1 pair of safety scissors
- 5 ballpoint pens (black or blue ink only, no gel — please bundle with a rubber band!)
- 5 unsharpened No. 2 pencils with erasers (please bundle with a rubber band!)
- 1 eraser (2.5”)

How to Donate:
Drop off your items anytime this month in the donation box outside the sanctuary or bring them directly to the church office.

Special Congregational Meeting This Sunday! ⛪ 🙏✨

Calling all St. Olaf Lutheran Church members! We are stepping into an exciting new chapter, and we want you to be a part of it! Join us tomorrow, August 9, at 9:30 AM in the Fellowship Hall for a Special Congregational Meeting to vote on our recommended pastoral candidate.

Reminder: We need at least 80 voting members present to make quorum, so bring a fellow member along! We hope to see you there!

Join Us at the Fairgrounds for the St. Olaf Fair Diner!

Woohoo, the St. Olaf Fair Diner is officially back starting Tuesday, August 11, at 7:00 AM! Join us at the fairgrounds for great food and fellowship during one of our biggest fundraisers of the year!

Please note our updated hours for the week: we will be open Tuesday through Saturday, August 11–15, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and on Sunday, August 16, we will open at 7:00 AM and serve until the food runs out! Every meal directly supports our church's ongoing community ministries, so bring your family, invite your friends, and come hungry!

A huge thank you goes out to all of our incredible volunteers and staff who have worked tirelessly to make this event possible, and we look forward to seeing you there!
