The garden of Eden was the perfect scenario for free will and integrity. The answer is not to take away our choices but to have us make informed choices. We should have enough discipline to have access to harmful drugs and alcohol and yet choose sobriety and self control. We know the dangers of unbridled consumption and lust. God made the boundary clear. Our first parents chose to doubt that God was being forthright and honest with them. Trusting God means we believe in His word and His good will toward us.

Psalm 15 asks a question: Lord, who shall dwell with God where He lives?
David lists 10 qualities that God desires for us to live in His presence. The first only God can see. The other 9 are what people can see about us.
1. He that walks uprightly who lives his life with honest integrity: all in his love for God.
2.He does righteous deeds as a habit choosing good over evil. He will not follow or imitate the sins of bad people.
3. He speaks truth to himself understanding that out of the abundance of whats in his heart his mouth will speak. He memorizes God's word to hide it in his heart for later reference.
4.He says nothing that is bad. He does no wrong to his neighbor. He does not take away the good name of his neighbor by slander and name calling.
5. He gives honor to those who fear the Lord. He knows that God fearing people respect God and His ways.
6. He despises and turns away from those who are utterly wicked. He loves his enemies but does not approve of their evil ways.
7. He keeps his word honestly even when it may cost him something precious.
8. He has a genuine like, love, and respect for those who are servants of the Lord. These are the people he will have eternal fellowship with.
9. He does not do things for others only so that he can get something in return but because he is led by God's good Spirit and has a desire to be like Jesus and please God his Father at all times.
10. He will not take a bribe to distort the truth and hurt innocent people.

It's hard to save someone from drowning if you are drowning as well.
Praise God there are trained lifeguards who rescue lives.
