GOD DIDN’T DIAL THAT NUMBER. IT WAS TOXIC KING JAMES.
Sometimes what gets called God’s voice is really fear, shame, and generational trauma dressed up as scripture.
Just because someone used the Bible to hurt you doesn’t mean God cosigned the harm.
You can question the theology that wounded you and still grieve the parent who taught it to you.
You don’t have to call it holy just because it hurt you in the name of God.
Save this for the days you need to remember the difference between faith and fear.

That's not unconditional love. That's conditional acceptance dressed up as holiness. It's toxic

Have you ever experienced church hurt? 🥀🏳️‍🌈

For so many in the LGBTQ+ community, church hurt isn’t just about what was said from a pulpit. It’s about the rejection, the silence, the prayers that felt more like judgment, and the painful decision to walk away from a place you once called home just to protect the parts of yourself you were told to be ashamed of.

And sometimes, the hardest letter to write is the one you never get to send to the church that hurt you, the people who misunderstood you, or the younger version of yourself who just wanted to be loved without conditions.

But hear this: You are not too much. You are not too broken. You are not beyond God’s love. And you never have to abandon yourself to belong. ❤️‍🩹

If church hurt has ever made you question your faith, your worth, or your place in the world, this one is for you.
