I one time got to give some art that I made to President Carter at the Candler Baptists event. He said it would go in his library. I add my voice to the choir affirming the late President Jimmy Carter. What a steadfast and admirable person. Thank you for all that you were. Thank you for your presence. Rest well dear one and make the journey to become our ancestor soon and so soon.

I read somewhere that it takes the body 7 years to replace every cell in one’s bloodstream. 7 years ago - my incredible community - affirmed my call and I was ordained to the creative ministry of Jesus.

Today, on the 7 year anniversary of my ordination this means more and more to me. The transformation of self toward the divine captivates me more and more each day. The vision of how meaning making in the decolonized Christian tradition can continue to renew itself unfolds still in my imagination.

Just as the body continues to recycle and renew cells- there is life yet in this faith that had caused so much hurt. After 7 years I am a new person; quite literally transformed on the inside and moving in the spirit daily. I am grateful and humbled to serve as a clergy person, an explorer and a fellow sojourner.

I was filled with gratitude when a person let me accompany them seeking recovery. I remember acutely the feeling of going into the place where I would eventually get clean at. What a courage move this person let me accompany them with. I crocheted this small reminder for them while we were waiting. When sunflowers can’t see the sun they turn to each other for reflected light. Turn to source wherever you find it. [black yellow green blue crocheted flower with a handwritten note.] This reminder comes to me again as I learn and relearn to stop and turn to source every day - every moment - my prayers for you sojourner getting clean. I will be there for the journey.

Z & Z’s school may not have done this on purpose. But spirit moves. I was so overjoyed to learn again and teach as much as he would understand (he’s 2!) about Pauli Murray! What an amazing human in the face of tragedy they always turned to God. It was a pleasure to draw them and an honor to study them again. Now Z can say: “Pwali Murray”! Happy Black History Month to everyone. All the parents doing posters! What a joy we have!! ❤️💚🖤

What an honor it is to get to serve and be with my community in this year memorial for .
you inspire me daily. You led us today and we continue to heal together. Tortugita, I never knew you on this earthly plane but your spirit is warm and sweet when I am open enough to feel you. It’s like coming home and truly this movement has brought me home again and again. I am me. And we are enough. Mekko Chebon is here on the land and will be spending the morning and afternoon with the community. We are honored and excited about dreaming radical futures together. I may have texted you about this because I am so excited it is happening. I am honored to call Chebon a friend and would listen to his teaching all day everyday if I could. I take it in while I can. We are gathering on Saturday to prepare the land and the space and cook the meal we will share and play with the children. It will be beautiful. Ofrenda ready. Homegrown marigolds ✅ Pan de Mu**to 🙏 ✅ Ancestor connection ✅ Happy Dia De Los Mu**tos - Happy All Saints Day. May we listen close to the whispers of our ancestors- May our Great Cloud of Witnesses guide us on the path toward oneness. On this day - hear the cries of those who have gone before- WE ARE ALL ONE. Letting the lives of my ancestors impact my living has been a journey toward purpose and redemption. I am not there. But the veil is thin on this day. May i be renewed in the Call to live with consciousness and intention. May i never forget my people who I come from and the path toward wholeness that I progress down for them and for me. The ancestors of so many are drown out in the “traffic of life” as Dr. Thurman called it. Centering down and quieting the mind we may finally hear the tug of our ancestors and the river of divine within. May we truly see the thriving of others and rejoice. May we truly connect with the grief of the many.
