Join us Sunday,May 24th for a thank you meal for everything you have done for us to Joe and Pat Merrel and a welcome to our Church and Community to our new Pastor and family, Mike,Kelli, and Baylor Ellis. Meal immediately following Brother Joe’s sermon. We so appreciate Brother Joe and Pat for leading us these last 6 months. You guys are the absolute best and we will miss you. And we are looking forward to what God has in store for us with Brother Mike taking over ! Good things are in store for Swenson Baptist Church! Come join in the excitement !

Prayers for our former Pastor on the loss of his lovely wife. Sherry Reid was a sweetheart of a lady and man could she make that piano sing. Condolences go out to Brother Jim and family

Once again our ladies did a fantastic job at the lunch today! You girls do an amazing job every time. And also a special thanks to Johnnie, Nola, Diane, Patti, Sabrina, and Kathy for all your awesome help. We were stretched thin and your help was much much appreciated. Also a big thanks to everybody who sent food. It was a big family and we were so honored to be able to accommodate them. We have an amazing community of Sisters in Christ

Where do I start. When Phillip went to his heavenly home we not only lost a Deacon and a Church member, we lost a Brother in Christ and a dear friend. He will be missed by all his family and friends and by all of us that make up his Swenson Baptist family. And we are all a family, we have stuck together through good times and hard times. We have cried together and praised together. And Phillip was always a big part of the love we have here for each other. To the world he may have come across as gruff and rough but to us he was able to show his tender side and he loved us and he loved our Church. To say he will be missed doesn’t begin to cover our loss. May you rest in peace now where you are finally fully healed.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Funeral services for Phillip will be Friday, March 6, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Swenson Baptist Church with burial to follow at the Brazos Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5 pm to 7 pm at Giles McCoy Funeral Home. We will be feeding the family around 11:30. If you would like the help with food please have it to the Church by 10:30
