Aspen Tibet

Aspen Tibet Aspen Tibet enables compassionate community through events and education with the mission to preserve and share Tibetan traditions and culture.

Aspen Tibet is honored and delighted to continue the auspicious tradition of welcoming and hosting Tibetan Buddhist Monastics to Aspen, Colorado. Over the many years of their visits, our local environment reminds them of their motherland. This much anticipated and enjoyed community event provides a full menu of Tibetan cultural opportunities, giving area residents and visitors a chance to experien

ce firsthand the unique culture of the Tibetan people and the rich traditions of Tibet and Tibetan Buddhism. When monastics and nuns are available, Aspen Tibet offers a full schedule of special programs, lectures, art and cultural events, alive with the rich color and pageantry of ancient rituals and ceremonies of mystical Tibet. Available by appointment, one-on-one and group blessings, house and business blessings, as well as Tibetan Astrological readings (a completely different system from traditional western astrology), and school and community events are offered. Additionally, handmade weavings, paintings, jewelry and other unique items made by Tibetan refugees in the Tibetan resettlement area in India are available for purchase. Year-round, events, such as group talks, meditaion, and celebrations, are being created to bring together a local sangah. If you are interested in participating as a member of support, please contact Serene, (970) 948-9279 or [email protected]. General information, questions, and interest are also welcome.

MESSAGE

I wholeheartedly endorse the powerful appeal for peace made by the Holy Father, Pope Leo, during his Palm Sunday Mass. His call for the laying down of arms and the renunciation of violence resonated profoundly with me, as it speaks to the very essence of what all major religions teach.

Indeed, whether we look to Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism or any of the world's great spiritual traditions, the message is fundamentally the same: love, compassion, tolerance, and self-discipline. Violence finds no true home in any of these teachings. History has shown us time and again that violence only begets more violence and is never a lasting foundation for peace.

An enduring resolution to conflict, including the ones we see in the Middle East or between Russia and Ukraine, must be rooted in dialogue, diplomacy and mutual respect — approached with the understanding that, at the deepest level, we are all brothers and sisters.

I urge for and pray that the violence and conflicts may soon come to an end.
