🌅 Easter triumph, Easter joy!

✝️ We were so blessed by those who joined us for worship on Easter Sunday! Special thanks to all who participated in our worship services throughout Holy Week, organized the Easter breakfast, facilitated the grounds cleanup, and decorated our worship spaces.

🙏 The Easter season continues this Sunday. You'll find an open seat saved for you at 10 AM in Asheville or Hendersonville as we celebrate the Resurrection. Christ is risen, he is risen indeed!

🧐 DID YOU KNOW?

✝️ Six years ago, Holy Week and the season of Easter looked and felt a bit different. Living Savior was faced with the same question as churches across the globe in 2020: how do we preach the gospel in a season of physical separation? Our church answered this question with drive-in services beginning on Palm Sunday. Makeshift pulpits were devised for our pastors. Audio was broadcast over a radio transmitter so everyone could listen in their vehicles. As the weather warmed, families sat in the AVL pavilion or spread out on blankets and lawn chairs. Recorded services were made available online with Living Savior members lending their voices to sing the hymns, including these adorable kids who performed I Am Jesus’ Little Lamb!

🙏 Many details of the pandemic are not remembered fondly. But the adversity we faced as a church gave us the opportunity to show resilience and dedication to God’s Word, banding together to make sure our preaching and teaching would not cease under tough circumstances.

📖 “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24-25)

🧐 DID YOU KNOW?

✝️ “Baptismal waters cover me!” Living Savior has been blessed to witness many cleansed in the waters of holy baptism over 25 years, just as we did with baby Ezra this past Sunday. In his Small Catechism, Martin Luther explains that baptism works these specific, irreplaceable blessings through water and the Word:

💧 Forgiveness of sin
💧 Deliverance from death and the devil
💧 Eternal salvation given to all who believe this, as the words and promises of God declare

🙏 “God saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. This is a trustworthy saying.” (Titus 3:5-8)

🧐 DID YOU KNOW?

✝️ The stained glass windows surrounding the pews in our Asheville worship sanctuary depict the faith statements of the Apostles’ Creed. Living Savior worked with one of the best stained glass artists in WNC to develop the concept. On June 28, 2009, the Creedal windows debuted in their first worship service. Along with the large cross above the altar, the stained glass quite literally illuminates our beliefs each time we enter the worship space, adding a pop of color to the room. These photos give a closer look at some of the design elements. Check the comments for an explanation written by Pastor Gary Baumler.
