Arcata Church of the Nazarene

Arcata Church of the Nazarene We are a family, not a show.

We believe God has placed us here as a beacon of hope that welcomes all people to ask questions, meet Jesus, heal, develop meaningful relationships, and grow deep roots in a life-giving relationship with God.

This Sunday we’re asking some of life’s biggest questions:

What happens when we die?
What changes when Jesus comes again?
And why do we have to wait for the fullness of our reward?

The Bible gives us more than vague hope. It points us to the presence of Christ, the promise of resurrection, the renewal of all things, and the assurance that our faithfulness now matters.

If you’re carrying grief, questions about eternity, or simply wondering whether the quiet ways you love and serve make a difference, this message is for you.

Come with your questions. Come with your hope. Come ready to be encouraged.

This Friday, September 4, join us at Celebrate Recovery and hear Dan’s testimony—a powerful story of what can happen when recovery becomes more than trying harder and Jesus becomes your Higher Power.

Jesus doesn’t just help us manage our hurts, habits, and hang-ups. He changes hearts, restores lives, and gives us strength we could never find on our own.

Come hungry. Come hopeful. Come as you are.

🍽️ Dinner — 5:30 PM
🙌 Worship & Testimony — 6:30 PM
💬 Open Share Groups — 7:45 PM

Recovery is possible. Transformation is real. Jesus changes everything.

No childcare is available on Friday nights.

“Your pastor’s a woman?”

What do you say when someone tells you, “Paul said women should be silent in church and are not permitted to teach men”?

What is the biblical foundation for ordaining women?

Christians who sincerely love Jesus and take Scripture seriously do not all agree on whether women should preach or pastor. So this Sunday, we’re not looking for an argument—we’re opening the Bible together.

We’ll look carefully at the difficult passages, the wider witness of Scripture, and why the Church of the Nazarene believes God calls and equips both women and men for ministry.

Come with your questions. Come ready to listen. Let’s search the Scriptures together.

This Friday at Celebrate Recovery, we’re continuing the journey with Lesson 8: Moral.

Principle 4 invites us to honestly examine our lives and begin facing the things we may have avoided for a long time. That can feel uncomfortable, but we don’t have to do it alone. God meets us with grace, truth, and the strength to keep moving forward.

This lesson is about more than looking back—it’s about letting God use the past to bring healing, growth, and freedom.

Whether you’ve been part of Celebrate Recovery for a while or you’re just beginning, you are welcome here.

What happens when you read the same Bible verse at different times in your life—and it seems to speak to you differently?

This Sunday, we’re exploring a thoughtful question from someone in our congregation:

"When I read the Bible, how can a single scripture seem to mean one thing when I read it and when I read it again later seem to mean something else?”

Does Scripture change? Are we changing? And how does the Holy Spirit help us understand and apply God’s Word in different seasons of life?

Join us as we talk about **Same Word, New Eyes** and discover how the Word remains faithful while God continues to shape us through it.

Come curious. Come with questions. Come ready to hear God’s Word with new eyes.

What does it mean when God “drops the mantle” on your life?

This Sunday, we’ll look at the call of Elisha in 1 Kings 19 and discover what his story teaches us about grace, surrender, discipleship, and following God wholeheartedly.

What field is Jesus meeting you in? What plow might He be asking you to release? And who is God calling you to help along the way?

Join us for “The Mantle, the Plow, and the Call.”
