TO ALL MY PASTOR FRIENDS: We got home today from our pastors and ministers’ retreat in the mountains. It was cold, but we had great weather.

Our speaker this year was Pastor Pat McDonald. The Lord ministered to all those who attended. One of the sessions was on the need for encouragement. Pastor Pat said that like Joshua, often our circumstances are against us.

The Jordan was at flood stage, there was a walled city ahead, the manna had stopped, the fighting men had been circumcised, and they faced the unknown. Without encouragement, Joshua would have never made it to his miracle and reached his God-ordained destiny.

We had several words of prophecy given that were spot on. The three-piece band we had that led us in worship was instrumental in the presence of God. Our drummer prophesied playing the drums, and you could sense the power of God in the room. I just received a text that while this was happening, a person had a vision of the Lord returning.

Thanks to all who came to our retreat. We missed others who were not there. Pastors, blessing on the Lord’s Day 🙏

TO ALL MY PASTOR FRIENDS: Years ago, when I was a teenager, my pastor at that time had a revival with an old Cherokee Indian(that is what he said about himself) named George Byus.

He was the father of David and Dan Byus (those are the two I knew, and the latter served the IPHC as Superintendent in Alaska). Back to old brother Byus. To this day, I still remember parts of his sermon. I remember him calling the church back to holiness and heart purity. I can still sense the urgency and the passion in his voice.

I remember when he said the day the church loses its purity, she will lose its power. George Byus was an old man then (he had driven an old pickup from Sacramento to Olivehurst, and my Dad had me follow him home to make sure he would be okay). He told me that God had laid his hand on me and never forget the message of holiness.

Now, after all these years, the message of holiness and heart purity stirs in my spirit. Tomorrow, by God’s grace, I will once again attempt to lift my voice in calling people to holiness and heart purity. Pastors, it’s not outdated theology. If it seems strange to you, it’s because you’ve lost that part of your heritage— only the pure in heart will see God.

Tonight, I want to pause to say thank you to George Byus and S.T. Hail. A few years after my brief encounter with George (he passed in his vehicle parked at the river where he often went), I was attending Sac State College, and I would go by and see S.T. Hail. He lived in a trailer behind my Uncle Bill Hail’s church in Sacramento.

He would talk to me about the call of God. For several months, I was privileged to hear a good man of God share about ministry. These two men shaped my life in a way that it has driven me to maintain personal holiness and especially heart purity.

In those times in my life where my heart was soiled because of a sin I committed, their testimony rang true— keep your heart pure— thanks be to God who cleanses and renews our heart. Pastors, keep your hearts pure— it can be done if you’re honest with yourself and God. 🙏Bishop Stan

Happy Pastor Appreciation to all the incredible women who pastor in the IPHC! 💐

Whether you are leading as the pastor of a church, co-pastoring alongside your husband, shepherding through worship, or pouring into the lives of little ones each week—your leadership, faithfulness, and obedience make an eternal impact. Thank you for the countless ways you serve, pray, love, and lead. You are deeply valued and celebrated today and always!

TO ALL MY PASTOR FRIENDS: I have been preaching selected sermons from the Book of Revelation. Tomorrow my message title is - It’s Later Than You Think. I will preach chapter 12 which is really an index of the struggle of good and evil in the history of mankind. It records the fall of the dragon and the plan of God which brought his defeat.

As I have been preparing, my spirit has been giving thanks to God for the victory that Jesus Christ gives. Pastors, when you take the pulpit tomorrow, take it with a grateful heart that you are part of his church.

Regardless of who is there or who is not there, regardless of the size of your crowd— remember Rev. 1:5- Unto Him that loved us and washed us from our sin in his own blood and hath made us kings and priests unto God and the Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever. We have been filled with his measureless love.

God has been and will be gracious to us. If we search our hearts, there is no reason that God should love us except that God is love, his love is natural to Him— we would do well to remember that we are loved because love is his very essence. May we also remember that he washed us from our sins by coming to us. That is love marked with God’s extravagance.

Whatever you preach tomorrow, tell what Jesus has done for your soul. He has loosed us from our sin and exalted us to a royal rank—he has made us Kings and priests. Remind your people that this is why we praise him— unto him be the glory and dominion forever and ever. 🙏🔥 🕊️

🌟 Pastor Appreciation Month is Coming! 🌟

This October, we will take time to honor and celebrate the incredible pastors who serve across our IPHC family. Their dedication, sacrifice, and love for the Body of Christ make a lasting impact on our churches and communities. From faithfully preaching the Word, to shepherding their congregations, to giving of their time and energy, pastors truly deserve honor.

Romans 13:7 reminds us: “Give to everyone what you owe them… if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.”

As we prepare for Pastor Appreciation Month, let’s begin thinking of ways we can show gratitude for our pastors:
1️⃣ Pray for them and their families 🙏
2️⃣ Speak words of encouragement 💬
3️⃣ Bless them in tangible ways 💝

Let’s get ready to celebrate and honor our pastors this October!

TO ALL MY PASTOR FRIENDS: being a pastor is one of the hardest life callings that there is. If you are looking for affirmation and appreciation from people- you will be sorely disappointed.

Ministry life is filled with more downs and disappointments than one would expect. Yes, there are some very caring and appreciative people who genuinely give their respect and honor for what you do.

My wife and I have such a lady in my church that regularly prays for us, regularly gives us cards many times with gifts of appreciation and constantly affirms the ministry and our call. But on the flip side there are many who say and do hurtful things.

Even when you feel you have sacrificed and tried your best- you will be exposed to someone who doesn’t appreciate your efforts and will tell you so. In the midst of all this, you are seeking God for the next ministry task that are in front of you.

Then there are personal struggles such as the loss of a loved one, someone close to you that has cancer or a debilitating sickness that is weighing on your mind. Yet in all that, your heart is for God and for Him to fulfill his call in you because you know it will bring glory to God. How do you navigate all of this.

First you take care of your soul. You need His presence constantly. Go back to one of your life verses that highlights His promise to you. For me it’s Psalms 37:5- Commit thy way into the Lord and he shall bring it to pass.

Pastors some people may not appreciate you, but we only need the applause of ONE- OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. Stay in the race- it will be worth it all when we see Jesus.
