A huge thank you to Kim and Tim Hess for joining Pastor Katie this past weekend in Cedar Rapids for the Southeastern Iowa Synod, ELCA Assembly!

Some highlights from the weekend:
-Bishop Amy Current was re-elected on the first ballot to serve as our Bishop for another 6-year term! 🎉
-The countless quilts and prayer shawls that were collected from across the synod and covered the pews to remind us of the way God wraps us up in love and weaves our communities together in one church and one body. 🩵
-Hearing about the ways that our own members are involved at the Synod level: We heard about the work that Chuck Corr has been doing on the Synod Constitution Committee and the assembly elected Tricia Perron to serve on the Nominating Committee! ✝️

Megan and I spent part of last week at Lutheridge Camp in North Carolina for the kickoff event to a new ELCA program called Curious Christian Children! Our congregation is one of eleven across the ELCA to participate in this cohort dedicated to the inclusion of children in worship and prayer, especially children with disabilities. We will spend the next 9 months celebrating all that our congregation has done to already include children so well, while also learning about new ways that we can foster an even deeper sense of belonging for all the little ones in our community!

While in NC, we spent most of our time listening, learning, and connecting with the group. But we also had plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful camp, catch glimpses of the mountains that surrounded us, "ooo and aah" at all the different flowers, and we were even able to spend a free afternoon exploring downtown Ashville with a portion of the group!

We are excited to see how the Spirit will work through this program and our church community!
