Renewed Strength

Pastor Leon’s SOAP: Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer
October 30, 2026: SOAP #6174: Job 21; Mark 5-6

SCRIPTURE: Mark (NIV) 6:31 Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest." 32 So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place 33 But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. 34 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So, he began teaching them many things.

OBSERVATION: Jesus knew his disciples. He knew they were tired. He invited them to come WITH HIM in a boat to a place where they could get some rest.

But when they arrived at their destination, a crowd was already gathered, and Jesus began ministering to them. Later in the day, these tired disciples helped Jesus feed 5,000 men plus the women and children!

Where did they get the strength to minister to the crowd? They got it from being WITH HIM!

APPLICATION: At times I too experience the weariness of being busy serving the Lord. But God provides renewed strength and joy to sustain me in my weariness.

It is found in HIS Presence! It is found in the knowledge that I can be useful to HIM! It is found in being in the boat with HIM on the way and then ministering with HIM when He and I arrive.

The key is not to run ahead, nor to lag behind, but to go WITH HIM!

PRAYER: Lord, it is in Your Presence that my strength is renewed, and I am refreshed to continue when I am weary. Thank you. Amen.

Not mine/ours, but HIS!

October 29, 2026: SOAP #6173: Job 20; Mark 3-4

SCRIPTURE: Mark 3:14 He appointed twelve—designating them apostles— that they might be (1st) with him and that he might (2nd) send them out to preach 15 and to have authority to drive out demons.

OBSERVATION: The pattern is clear. Those who would do great things for the Lord must first spend time with Him.

A business owner who has spent years building a successful business probably will not take an extended vacation and leave his business in the hands of a novice. Before turning it over to someone, he would want to make sure they understand his ways and priorities.

So it was with Jesus. He did not send the disciples out on their own until they had spent time with Him.

APPLICATION: If I want the Lord to use me to do things for Him I must first spend time with Him.

It is in spending time with Him that I learn His ways and priorities. I learn His heart. I learn not only what He does, but more importantly, why He does what He does.

And when He does send me out to work for Him, I discover that He is not sending me alone! He goes with me. His Holy Spirit is living in me. I discover that ministry is allowing the Holy Spirit to speak through me, touch through me, and write SOAPs through me.

PRAYER: Lord, I have often sang, “To be used of God, to sing, to speak, to pray; to be used of God to show someone the way…” Perhaps I should rather be singing, “To spend time with God until I know His ways; to spend time with God until I know His heart…” And Lord, when I move out in ministry, it is not my ministry, but your ministry. SOAP is not our ministry for which we are seeking your help; SOAP is your ministry in which you are using us. Amen.

Preparing the Way!

Pastor Leon’s SOAP: Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer
October 28, 2026: SOAP #6172: Job 19; Mark 1-2

SCRIPTURE: Mark 1:3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

OBSERVATION: John the Baptist was the voice crying in the wilderness and his message was “Prepare ye the way of the Lord…”

APPLICATION: I can take it as my assignment. There are those around me that the Lord wants to use me to “prepare the way of the Lord.”

There are so many ways that God can use us to “prepare the way” for our family, friends, acquaintances, fellow workers, etc. to be open to listening to the convicting voice of the Holy Spirit.

God is using the SOAPs and the people distributing the SOAPs to “prepare the way of the Lord!” People pray and people give; people print and people distribute the printed SOAPs. People’s eyes of faith are opened, and they put their faith in Jesus. Jesus moves into their heart and changes their lives!

PRAYER: Lord, may I act and speak in such a way that causes those around me to be prepared to receive you when you call them. Amen.

Personal note: Sharon and I are back home from a celebration trip for our 58th wedding anniversary. Because my computer had been invaded by unwanted hackers, I left it with people who checked it out and removed unwanted files. Praise the Lord. Tomorrow I must finish working to repair some financial files. Join me in giving thanks to the Lord for His protection on the files in this laptop. And join me in asking the Lord for his protecting hand upon all the laptops being used in the SOAP ministry. No one knows how many laptops and printers printing SOAPs are active. Usually, they are purchased from second-hand shops, but we have had very little trouble with them. The SOAP ministry is God’s ministry, and He has proved Himself faithful in provision and protection. 😊

Dear friends, I had some intruders in my laptop which messed with my personal bank accounts and with the SOAP accounts. Praise the Lord, I was able to get to the bank with them still on my phone, so they took quick action and no money was lost! Praise the Lord!!! But the accounts are all locked down from online banking until I get a clean bill of health from the computer store.

Sharon and I will be out of town to celebrate our 58th wedding anniversary on Sunday and will not be back until Tuesday. So I will not be sending out the daily SOAPs for a few days. (my first miss in 16+ years)

For this, I am using Sharon's laptop, which she very seldom uses. It does not have the same programs or files, so I am very limited as far as writing SOAPs.

Pray for God to use this teaching time to help me grow in technology. Pray for God's working in West Africa. A new outreach is now happening in Senegal.

He had to do it!

Pastor Leon’s SOAP: Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer
October 23, 2026: SOAP #6167: Job 13-14; Acts 17-18

SCRIPTURE: Acts 17:2 As his custom was, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures,
3 explaining and proving that the Christ had to suffer and rise from the dead. "This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Christ," he said.

OBSERVATION: Paul understood the nature of God. God is perfectly holy and cannot ignore sin. AND God is perfectly loving and longs for fellowship with the man He created!

How does a perfectly Holy God deal with sinful man in a way that fulfills His love? How could He allow sinful man into His Holy Presence?

Paul understood: Jesus Christ HAD TO SUFFER! The price of sin could not be ignored; the death penalty must be paid.

For God to satisfy the love He has for man, Jesus Christ HAD TO SUFFER the full penalty of sin. For man to be able to enter an intimate relationship with God, Jesus Christ HAD TO SUFFER the full penalty of sin!

APPLICATION: As I have grown in knowing God, I now better understand the nature of God, the nature of man, and the nature of sin. For a holy God to be able to express His love to Leon, Jesus Christ HAD TO SUFFER! And because Jesus had no sins for which he would have needed to die, His death is acceptable as the payment for my sins!

PRAYER: Lord, how can I say thanks for the love you have shown me. You carried the full weight of my sin when you died on the cross. You took my place and paid for my sins. I want my life to be a visible expression of my appreciation and love for you. Amen.

A ministry for everyone!

Pastor Leon’s SOAP: Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer
October 22, 2026: SOAP #6166: Job 11-12; Acts 15-16

SCRIPTURE: Acts (NIV) 16:40 After Paul and Silas came out of the prison, they went to Lydia’s house, where they met with the brothers and encouraged them. Then they left.

OBSERVATION: Paul and Silas had come to Philippi because of specific leading by the Holy Spirit. They met a small group of women meeting at the riverbank for prayer. The freeing a demon-possessed woman brought them into contention with the city leaders. Paul and Silas were “severely flogged” and put in jail with their feet in stocks. While they were singing and praising the Lord at midnight an earthquake freed all the prisoners resulting in the salvation of the jailer. They were now released from prison with strict orders to leave town. But on their way, they stopped by Lydia’s house, quite probably the meeting place of the new church.

It is interesting to note, that they did not stop by Lydia’s house to get some help on their way out of town. They did not stop to get some encouragement to help them on to the next town. (I am sure meeting with other believers did encourage them.) This verse tells us that Paul and Silas were the ones doing the encouraging!!! Just released from prison, but they were encouraging others. Recently “severely flogged,” yet they were the ones doing the encouraging.

APPLICATION: Being an encourager does not depend on my circumstances. It does not depend on the difficulties I am presently facing. Just sharing my testimony often serves to encourage someone else.

Encouraging is a self-less ministry, putting others before oneself. It is focusing on the difficulties that someone else is going through. It is giving a word of cheer, or of hope. It is sharing a thought, or doing a deed, that helps lift a heavy load. It is saying, “I believe in YOU!”

PRAYER: Lord, today help me to see the potential you have placed in someone I meet. Then show me how to encourage them to become all you mean for them to be. Help me lift their faith to trust You! Amen.

Some Day Soon!

October 21, 2026: SOAP #6165: Job 9-10; Acts 13-14

SCRIPTURE: Acts (NIV) 14:26 From Attalia they sailed back to Antioch, where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work they had now completed. 27 On arriving there, they gathered the church together and reported all that God had done through them and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.

OBSERVATION: We should never consider our assignment complete until we have reported back to those who sent us. (If we have asked someone to pray for us, may we be quick to report back of heaven’s response.)

APPLICATION: Here is a SOAP report back to those who have been praying and giving for the SOAP ministry. Several years back Bishop Emmanuel (from Liberia) asked Pastor Andrew (From Sierra Leone) to join him in taking the SOAPs to each of the 14 countries of West Africa. In the nation of Senegal (90%+ Muslim) the response was not very promising, so they left four computers and printers with the Christians and moved on to the next country.

It has been a difficult time for the SOAP Ministry in Senegal, BUT GOD IS MOVING! The SOAPs are now being well received, and people are giving their lives to Jesus!!! Some people are walking long distance from neighboring villages every day to get the SOAP for that day. The Senegal SOAP team has called for help.

Today Bishop Emmanuel and three pastors are taking 20 computers and printers into Senegal. They will be having special conference meetings in cities and towns for the next two weeks.

PRAYER: Lord, as we daily pray for our loved ones and friends, we stop to pray for the nation of Senegal. May this be the day of revival in Senegal. Open the windows of heaven upon that Muslim country. Anoint your servants to speak boldly with power, accompanied by miracles. May many people have visions of you. And, some day soon, may we meet up with those for whom we are praying today. Amen

To Whom do we go first?

October 19, 2026: SOAP #6163: Job 6-8; Acts 12

SCRIPTURE: Acts (NIV) 12:5 So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. 6 The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. 7 Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. "Quick, get up!" he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.

OBSERVATION: Verse 6 tells us that Peter was sleeping, but verse 5 says the church was praying! The church was not picketing the jail nor contacting their representatives. The church saw itself presenting their petitions before the throne of heaven! They were taking their concerns before the one who created the world and to whom nothing was impossible!

APPLICATION: There are so many ways today a church can spend its time; sometimes it leaves little time for prayer. We can have counseling, group meetings, various activities, etc. If the church does not make prayer a priority there will be no time for it in our schedules. If the church does not make prayer a priority, people will choose other more enjoyable and entertaining activities.

But when we have access to the God of creation to whom nothing is impossible, why would we waste our time before Kings or governors or representatives? If we go to governmental leaders on earth, it should be because we have already been to the God of heaven and HE has instructed to talk to earthly leaders.

Remember, when Moses went to Pharoah it was because he was sent! May we be sent to the world around us.

PRAYER: Holy Spirit, keep emphasizing the importance of prayer. It is more important to talk to God than to man. And when we do talk to me, may we know that You have sent us! Amen

HE still uses one!

October 19, 2026: SOAP #6163: Job 5; Psalm 108; Acts 10-11

SCRIPTURE: Acts (NIV) 11:1 The apostles and the brothers throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God.

OBSERVATION: Peter was on his way to Jerusalem to report on how Gentiles had become believers. It is the story of Acts 10. The disciples had received the great commission from Jesus and they were headed out to reach people…but not Gentiles. They had no vision for reaching the Gentiles, but God loved the Gentiles and chapter 10 is about God doing just that!

Acts 10 was 2000+ years ago, but it is exactly what God is doing in West Africa to reach the Muslims today! One Muslim leader got so sick he had to leave his area to visit a doctor. While out of his home area, he received a copy of a SOAP. He called the number listed on the SOAP, received prayer and was healed. Back home, everyone saw what God had done, so they invited the SOAPs to be distributed in their area, each group accompanied by a Muslim to verify that they had permission to be there with Christian papers. Today, thousands and thousands of former Muslims have accepted Jesus as their Lord and are being baptized.

APPLICATION: It only takes one, one Roman Centurion, one Muslim Leader, one fellow worker, one neighbor, one mother-in-law, one doctor, one market worker, or one… God will probably not use us to reach the world, but He will use us to reach one.

PRAYER: Holy Spirit, may I be one you can use to reach one person today. Lead me to bring one person to you. Use me to bring one person who will be a link to others I cannot reach. I may not be able to reach them, but you have ways to reach people I have not even considered. Amen
