Independent Catholic Foundation

Independent Catholic Foundation Catholic philanthropy through us, not to us. We accomplish this through permanent endowments and grants.

ICF is a 501(c)(3) public charity governed by a board of lay trustees dedicated to providing long-term financial benefits to Catholic causes throughout the US with preference to parishes, schools, cemeteries and ministries in the geographic region of the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown. Please visit our website at www.icfoundation.us for information about how you can contribute to an existing permanent endowment or initiate one of your own, as well as viewing our current financial reports.

Earlier this month, ICF CEO Chris Ringkamp joined his peers at the Augustine Institute for the largest gathering of Catholic Foundation executives at the annual symposium of the Consortium of Catholic Foundations. They shared best practices and daily liturgies and deepened their friendships to accelerate missions of providing long-term financial benefits to cherished Catholic causes.

While there, he thanked Tom Digenan and Michael Bell of Christian Brothers Investment Services for leveraging ICF investments to advance Catholic values globally.

On Saturday, April 11, 2026 - proclaimed as "John DeFazio Day" by the City of Johnstown - Bishop McCort Catholic High School announced the "John DeFazio Scholarship Endowment Fund" which we will steward in our Catholic-aligned investment strategy. God's path for Mr. D. found him marking 50 incredible years in Catholic education to date as a teacher, coach, athletic director, and outstanding mentor to thousands of students. Congratulations to John on this achievement, and prayer-filled wishes for many more years of wholesome influence for our youth! Today the Church celebrates Pennsylvania native St. Katherine Drexel who used her inherited wealth to build up numerous Catholic causes. After donating, she would reveal her motivation of her charitable giving by writing "For the greater glory of God!"

May each of us be inspired by Saint Katherine to use our God-given resources to make a meaningful difference in our parish and other cherished Catholic causes for His greater glory- especially as we give alms during Lent.
