Aboo Tharr Jundub ibn Junaadah and Aboo Abdir-Rahmaan Mu'aath ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) said, "Fear Allah and keep your duty to Him] wherever you are. Follow up a bad deed with a good one; it will wipe it away. And have good manners with the people." It was collected by at-Tirmithee, who graded it a hasan (sound) narration. In some manuscripts: hasan-saheeh (authentic).

A man will go on being truthful and looking for opportunities to be truthful until Allah writes him down as a siddeeq (a devoutly honest believer). And be warned of lying, since lying leads to wickedness, and wickedness leads to the Fire. A man will go on lying and looking for opportunities to lie until Allah writes him down as a liar."
