After much prayer and consideration, we share with heavy hearts that Camp Oak Haven will be closing its doors due to the impact of Texas bills SB 1 and HB 1.
We want to begin with gratitude. To every person who gave financially, showed up for work days, swung a hammer, taught lessons, cooked a meal, or simply prayed for this place…you are the reason Camp Oak Haven became what it is today. What stands here has never just been buildings and land; it has been the result of faithful people pouring themselves out in service. You helped create a place where lives were changed, where students and adults alike encountered the Lord, and where community was built in a way that will echo far beyond this property.
To those who feel the loss deeply: it’s okay to grieve what this place has meant to you. Camp Oak Haven has been a backdrop for life-changing moments, quiet conversations with God, and lifelong friendships. But while a place may close, the work God did here does not end. The same God who met you here is still moving, still calling, and still faithful wherever you go next.
We hold tightly to the truth of Scripture: “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.” (Isaiah 40:8) Policies may change and circumstances may shift, but God’s promises are not shaken. His purposes cannot be undone, and His work will continue, just as powerfully as it always has.
To the churches who trusted us with your students, your families, and your ministries: thank you. It has been an honor to partner with you in what God is doing. Your investment in using this space for retreats, camps, and gatherings has left an eternal impact, and we are deeply grateful for your belief in what Camp Oak Haven stood for.
We also want to extend a special thank you to the former Gulf Coast Christian Camp board. Your belief in the vision of Camp Oak Haven and your generous decision to entrust this property to us made all of this possible. We have stewarded it with gratitude, and we are thankful for the legacy you allowed us to carry forward.
Though this chapter is closing, the story is not over. What God has done here will continue in the lives of those who walked these hallowed grounds. And we trust fully that He is already writing what comes next.
With gratitude and hope,
Camp Oak Haven board of directors
