What does God’s design for men and women mean for church life today? This message continues our study in 1 Timothy and explores a rather controversial passage, 2:8-15. This passage teaches prayerful, Christlike male leadership and women’s call to learn and serve while confronting cultural objections and past abuses. It shows how the Bible teaches equal worth and spiritual standing alongside distinct roles and reminds us that any role in the church is about service, not status.

Prayer and the Great Commission. Those two things must be very heavy on the minds of a church if it is going to be healthy. Prayer not only helps us fill the two Great Commandments God have us, to love Him and love our neighbor, it is essential to fulfilling the Great Commission.
This passage we will be looking at, 1 Timothy 2, seems at first glance to be all about prayer, but in reality, it is much more. I hope you can join us as we seek to discover all that God has for us in this important text.

Many times, what keeps us from staying on the right track and doing what we know we should do is simply the absence of a little encouragement. The apostle Paul had a protégé named Timothy, whom he called his “true son in the faith.” Paul trusted Timothy so deeply that, as his own ministry was nearing its end, he left Timothy in Ephesus to pastor the church while Paul continued his work elsewhere. Yet Paul did not simply throw Timothy to the wolves; he stayed in touch, strengthened him, and offered the encouragement he needed. In the book of 1 Timothy, we have one of those communications—one inspired by God not only for Timothy, but also for us. I hope you will join me in this message as we consider the encouragement Paul gave to young Pastor Tim, because there is much here for us to gain today.

God has given a mandate to all Christians to “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel”. For the early part of my life, Churches in America seemed to focus mainly on supporting missionaries in other places. In the last 2 decades the focus has been on local missions, to the detriment of taking the Gospel internationally. It is clear that God wants us to be spreading the Gospel everywhere (Acts 1:8), near and far. It has been a goal of mine lately to make sure our church is keeping a good balance. Toward that end we have a missionary family with us who literally minister on the other side of the globe. You won’t want to miss their presentation and you will want to catch it in person if you can as some parts won’t be available in the Livestream.
