As we continue to look at the marks of new life in Christ, we see that one important aspect is being filled with the Word of God. This is a theme that goes all the way back in the Old Testament; that God’s people need to know, cherish, and practice His Words. When His Word dwells in us richly it not only guides us but also leads to an overflow of praise so that others benefit. This message takes a close look at these truths in Colossians 3:16-17 and asks us to evaluate if our life is characterized by this.

Christians have sometimes been known primarily for what they are against. Indeed, there are many places in Scripture where we are told to live counter-culturally, like in Colossians 3:5-11. What we are against, however, is only part of the story. Just like when you remodel a home, you get rid of the old for the sole purpose of replacing it with something new. The new is what becomes prominent, what your house is known for. So it is with our lives; we should be showcases of God’s renewing work of grace. That’s what this message from Colossians 3:12-17 is about.

We read in 2 Corinthians 5 “If anyone be in Christ they are a new creation”. What does that mean? What does that look like? If we are followers of Jesus who have trusted in Him to save us and make us His children, we need to know. In Colossians 3 Paul is helping a fledging church understand the difference between how they used to live before Christ and how they are to be living now. There is to be a clear difference. Join us as we take a look at the old side – what ways of thinking and acting we are to put off and how important it is that we do.

Let it snow!
So like like just about every other Church in the state, we won't be having services here today, but at 10:45 you can catch the message I recorded for you. It felt a little bit 2020ish, preaching to an empty room and a camera, certainly not my favorite thing, but I trust God will use it. Thank you to Dave for coming over yesterday to record me.
