As we celebrate the Ordination of six new priests for the Diocese of Allentown, we know that many faithful Catholics would like to be present for this joyful occasion.

Due to the limited seating capacity of the Cathedral, attendance at the Ordination Mass is by ticket only, with seating reserved for the families and invited guests of the Ordinands. Each of the six men has been given a designated number of tickets to share with those who have accompanied him on his journey to the priesthood.

For those unable to attend in person, we invite you to join us in prayer and participate through our livestream and television broadcast.

On the eve of priestly ordination, the entire faithful of the Diocese of Allentown are warmly invited to gather with Bishop Alfred A. Schlert and the six men preparing to be ordained for Evening Prayer on Friday, June 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena.

The evening will begin with Bishop Schlert’s blessing of the chalices that the new priests will use at the Altar in their priestly ministry — a moving moment that marks the threshold between their years of preparation and the Sacrament they are about to receive. Evening Prayer is open to all the faithful, with no ticket or registration required.

“This is a moment for our entire local Church to lift up these men in prayer as they prepare to give their lives in service to Christ and His people the following day,” said Bishop Schlert.

The Vigil precedes the Ordination Mass on Saturday, June 6 at 10:30 a.m., when Bishop Schlert will ordain the Class of 2026 to the Priesthood at the Cathedral.

Due to the limited seating of the Cathedral, attendance at the Ordination Mass itself is by ticket only, with seating reserved for the families and invited guests of the Ordinands. Please do not attend the Ordination Mass on June 6th if you do not have a ticket.

Each of the six men to be ordained has been given a designated number of tickets to share with those closest to them — a practice that allows the Cathedral to be filled with the loved ones who have walked alongside each Ordinand on his journey to the priesthood.

The Friday evening Vigil is therefore the principal opportunity for the wider faithful of the Diocese to be present in person with the Bishop and Ordinands during this sacred weekend.

Both the Vigil and the Ordination Mass will be livestreamed for those wishing to participate from home — viewers can stream them online on AD Today or here on Facebook.
