Flag Day (June 14) will be celebrated by a concert and program by the Allentown Flag Day Association and the Allentown Band. This year's program will be presented at Christ Church. Program begins at 3:00 PM on June 14.

It was an eventful weekend at Synod Assembly! We were introduced to seven candidates for Bishop and celebrated Bishop-elect The Rev. Jennifer Dee. In addition, we celebrated all that is underway with Bishop Chris DeForest and the Synod Staff, who saw us through an incredible weekend! Thanks be to God!

The Rev. Jennifer Dee has been elected to a six-year term as bishop of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod!

Pastor Dee currently serves as Lead Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Robesonia, a role she has held since 2023 after serving as Associate Pastor there for more than a decade. Ordained in 2008, she previously served St. John's Lutheran Church in Loogootee, Indiana. She earned a Master of Divinity from Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia and a Bachelor of Arts from Keene State College.

Bishop Elect Dee is the first woman elected bishop of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod. She will succeed The Rev. Christopher deForest, who is completing his first term as bishop. Information regarding the installation service will be announced at a later date.

Synod Assembly continues at Split Rock Lodge, through tomorrow. So far, three ballots for the office of Bishop have been executed. Tomorrow morning, we hear from the top three candidates.

Introducing a new series from the Presiding Bishop:

Presiding Bishop Yehiel Curry has issued his first in a series of monthly messages that will continue through the end of this year under the title "All Together in One Place."

Each message will share a pastoral word, rooted in Scripture, that witnesses to God’s presence today, our rich theological tradition and the social teaching that connects us.

When an electrical fire temporarily closed the doors at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the congregation needed to find a new place to worship.

And the quilting ministry’s beloved Monday morning gatherings were suddenly without a home.

But as the quilters were soon to learn, their grief would be short-lived. Because out of the smoke, emerged a beautiful validation of the power of community, resilience and a reaffirmation of what the group’s time was about in the first place.
