Cain’s greatest sin started long before murder—it began with unbelief. In this powerful short clip, we explore how rejecting the Word of God connects humanity across generations and why Jesus warns that disbelief places us in the same spiritual condition as those who rejected God before us.
This is a challenging look at Luke 11, Cain and Abel, and the seriousness of rejecting God’s Word.

📖 We're beginning a new Sunday School series through Jesus' Sermon on the Mount!

Before we dive into Matthew 5–7 verse by verse, we sat down on the Footnotes Podcast to talk about why this sermon matters, who it was written for, and how it shapes what it means to live as followers of Christ today.

The Sermon on the Mount isn't just a collection of famous sayings—it's Jesus' vision for life in His Kingdom. Join us as we lay the foundation for our new study, Kingdom Life - from the Inside Out.

When Jesus said “this generation,” He wasn’t just talking about a timeframe or age group. In Luke 11, Jesus uses “generation” as a description of spiritual character—people who reject God and His Word.
This short clip explores how Jesus connects unbelief from Cain to the Pharisees and why “this generation” is ultimately about the condition of the heart.

What did Jesus really mean by “this generation” in Luke 11? In this episode of Footnotes, we dive deep into one of the most misunderstood phrases in Scripture and explore how Jesus uses “generation” not primarily as a timeframe, but as a description of spiritual character and unbelief.
Pastor Thomas and Brother Micah unpack Luke 11, the woes to the Pharisees and lawyers, the blood of Abel to Zechariah, the sign of Jonah, and why Jesus connects unbelief across all of biblical history. This conversation also explores the Jewish ordering of the Old Testament, Cain and Abel, the prophets, and how rejecting God’s Word places people in the same spiritual “generation.”
If you enjoy biblical theology, expositional Bible study, rabbit trails, and deep Scripture context, this episode is for you.

There’s a difference between reading the Bible and studying the Bible—and both matter.
Every Christian should have a daily, consistent habit of reading Scripture from start to finish. Not randomly, but with a clear, systematic approach that builds understanding over time.
But growth doesn’t stop there.
As you mature, reading should lead to deeper study—slowing down, focusing on smaller passages, and learning to interpret what God is actually saying.
Start with reading. Grow into studying. Never stop either.
