Look at this! Within 48 hours of posting some immediate Blessing Box needs, all of this arrived, along with a ham! What a wonderful community we live in. We appreciate each and every donation - big or small. Thank you all so much.

The Blessing Box is seeking donations, with a special need for applesauce, chicken noodle soup, peanut butter, and bar soap. Thanks so much for your support!

Since February 2021, the Community Blessing Box ministry has provided perishable and nonperishable food items, hats, gloves and hygiene products to those in need. The Blessing Box is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

The Blessing Box has been sustainable due to continued donations from our congregation, the Firestone Park community, Allenside Presbyterian Church, the Firestone Park Community Center, grant monies from Akron, as well as other groups such as the Salvation Army and Beth El Congregation.

We are in awe and especially grateful to our Firestone Park neighbors who have taken it upon themselves to keep the Blessing Box full and functional. At this point, you are co-owners of the box!

We recently learned we are the beneficiaries of leftover vegetables and fruit from weekly Salvation Army giveaways. Similarly, we recently learned that Beth El Congregation in west Akron has a food collection box dedicated to our Blessing Box in their synagogue and donate on a regular basis.

There is a real need in our community, and our Blessing Box continues to impact people’s lives in ways we can’t imagine.

Our sincere gratitude to all of you!

This link leads to a comprehensive list of local food banks and pantries. It may be helpful to anyone who needs food sources during the current SNAP crisis.

As SNAP benefits are cut or frozen and the federal shutdown affects local paychecks, here’s a list of Akron- area food pantries.

Folks - two incredible ladies, Connie Markland and Ruth Stone, who live in the Firestone Park community are spearheading a free community Thanksgiving dinner on November 15th from 3-6 PM. The Firestone United Networking Village has generously donated their hall for the dinner. It is located at 275 South Firestone Blvd. The dinner is open to anyone! There may be some food items to take home if you need them. If you would like to donate food items for the dinner or for people to take home, please let Donnie Kammer know. A special thank you to him for helping these ladies find a location to hold the dinner.

We are so grateful that the community has so fully embraced our Blessing Box program. What a generous community the Firestone Park neighborhood is!

As the weather gets cooler our need for canned soup, chili, or pasta, crackers and mac 'n cheese increases. As always, we also need soap, shampoo and paper products as well. Please remember us as you grocery shop!

Thank you for your continuing support for our Blessing Box! You are responsible for it being such a success. Since some people in our community want to contribute but can't get to the box, we like to remind everyone occasionally about our Amazon wish list. We try to keep the list current by removing and replacing items that are no longer available or have become to costly, The shipments from the wish list go directly to the person who manages the box and puts out the items as they are needed. The link to the wish list is:
