COMING UP!!!

First Lutheran will once again join with THOUSANDS of ELCA congregations across the country in participating in "Gods Work, Our Hands" Sunday.

This is an intentional day of service - where we engage in a variety of projects that will enhance the lives of others in our community. There are projects for EVERYONE, every age and ability.

The morning begins with an upbeat abbreviated worship service - blessing us and our work - then off we go for about 2 hours of doing "God's work" with "our hands."

See you at 10 am on Sept. 13.

What does it mean to be a follower of Jesus?

It means feeding the hungry, caring for the vulnerable, welcoming the stranger, loving all, caring for Creation, helping our neighbors in need.

Sounds a lot like what happens every day at First Lutheran Church. ❤️

Join us for worship this Sunday as we affirm our calls to be Jesus' disciples - not only when it's easy, but also when God leads us to do and speak the difficult things - like Jesus did.

We will be blessing the 14 backpacks we assembled for the ARCC Emergency Shelter (THANK YOU to all who donated school supplies and backpacks, and those who assisted with filling them last Sunday).

Last Sunday we were so blessed to have Tania and Marla with us from the ARCC Emergency Shelter. The shelter has a new direction and vision, and we were grateful to have these leaders with us to explain the good work of the shelter, answer questions, and share the many ways we can connect.

Following the service, we packed 14 backpacks with school supplies. These backpacks will receive a special blessing on Sunday, Aug. 30, then will be donated to the shelter, providing brand new backpacks filled up with brand new school supplies for children residing at the shelter.

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO DONATED ITEMS AND HELPED ASSEMBLE TO BACKPACKS!

Please join us as we gather for worship tomorrow!

The ARCC Emergency Shelter is our August Mission/Outreach focus and their new Programs Manager, Tania, will be our guest. She will share updates and the new vision for the ARCC-ES.

We will gather to hear the Good News of Jesus, learn more about the good work of the ARCC-ES, we will sing, pray, and celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion. Fellowship Time will follow, including opportunities to speak to Tania and ask your questions.

At First Lutheran, we believe God gives ALL of us important gifts to love and serve God and others.

Our Sunday morning worship service is an example of God's gifts at work.

It was Pastor Maribeth's Sunday off, so an amazing team of lay leaders led the service, read the Scriptures, provided music, gave the children's message and sermon, and blessed Morgan.

THANK YOU to the gifted team who helped make Sunday's service so special and meaningful: Resurrection Band (Mel, Jerry, and Kirk), De (Worship Leader), Diana (Lector), Mel (Children's Message), Violet (Sermon), Jay, and Heather (blessing Morgan). ❤️❤️❤️

We look forward to gathering together for worship tomorrow!

We will hear the joy of Psalm 67 and the story of Jesus healing the Canaanite woman's daughter (Matthew 15:21-28).

Please join us as the Resurrection Band leads the music.
We will also bless Morgan as she soon returns back to college.

NOTE: We will be assembling the ARCC Emergency Shelter backpacks after church NEXT SUNDAY. Please plan to have your school supplies to church by then.

Fear impairs growth.
Fear prevents us from becoming all God has created us to be, from doing all God calls us to do.

Stepping out of our comfortable boat is scary, risky, and often unnerving.

However, if you want to walk on water, you have to step out of the boat.

Take a look at the recording of our Aug. 9 service.
It was another "Breakfast Church" Sunday.

We gathered around the theme of Matthew 14:22-33 - the story of Jesus walking on water, and Peter getting out of the boat.

As we eat together, we'll share in a relaxed, intergenerational worship service with prayer, music, Scripture, and conversation.
