Ephesians 5:1-5

1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.
2 And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
3 But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints.
4 Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving.
5 For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

Attachment and conformity to God requires a conduct of which God is not ashamed and which could not bring shame to the person when it is brought to light.

Trials and tests:
“are ordered by God as part of the great system of probation or testings to which every child of Adam is being subjected. The agency of the Evil One is permitted for the purpose of bringing a man into that sort of contact with evil that will serve to test his real principles.” As someone has wisely said, while Satan tempts us to bring out the worst in us, God tests us to bring out the best. As the smelting process draws out the impurities, leaving behind only what has genuine value, trials and tests prove what is genuine in our lives. As another Hebrew authority writes, “Unlike the Egyptian doctrine [and much modern thought, we would add] where the heart is weighed after death, Yahweh continually assays the hearts of his people that in the end they may come forth as gold (Zec 13:9; Job 23:10).”
