When you think discipleship, you probably are not thinking about your thought life as part of your discipleship. However, your thought life greatly affects the way you live your life and the lives of those whom you are discipling. So with that in mind: If someone younger than you adopted your thought life, what would they become? Would they be more peaceful? More grateful? More hopeful? More Christ-centered? Or would they be more anxious, cynical, critical or perhaps more consumed by the world? It’s a very sobering question because we are not only discipling people through what we say, but through what we are repeatedly allowing our minds to dwell on. The reality is that what we allow our minds to dwell upon eventually comes out. What are those you are discipling seeing in your life that reflect what is on your mind? May we heed the words of the Apostle Paul and filter our thoughts according to the things that honor and please God!

Discipleship isn’t simply sharing what you know; it’s sharing who you are with someone. Paul didn’t just give them the Gospel; he gave them a piece of his life! He didn’t just tell them what to believe or give them just his time, but he lived a life before them that they could imitate. There are two incredibly important people I want you to think about this morning: the person who is ahead of you spiritually and the person who is behind you spiritually. Both of these individuals greatly need you in their lives. One day, everyone who knows Jesus as their personal Savior will stand in the presence of the Lord, and the only thing that will matter in that moment is the people there with you. The people with whom you prayed, studied the Word of God, taught, encouraged, corrected, loved, and invested. Discipleship happens when someone chooses to love someone else enough to spiritually invest in their life. Who is your “Paul” and who is your “Timothy”?

We recently celebrated our 5th anniversary as a church. We are so grateful that we no longer meet in a living room or rent a meeting space, but instead have a building to meet in. We are grateful for the new ministries we are able to do with that space and all of equipment and needs that God has met…
However, none of that compares to how God has brought us people. People who are excited about what God is doing in this ministry. People who are studying God’s word together and starting their own Bible studies with others. People who are inviting their friends and family to church. Kids inviting their friends to come to kids club and youth group. We are a church 5 years later not because we have a building, equipment, or a perfect ministry with all the bells and whistles. We are here 5 years later because we are here to learn, grow, and serve God with people.

3 Truths Every Church Must Remember If It Wants To Be Built To Last
1) Remember Who Built The Church (v. 5-9)
2) Stay On The Right Foundation (v.10-11)
3) Build For Eternity (v.12-15)

We're not just building attendance. We're building disciples. We're not just filling seats. We're preparing people for eternity. As we celebrate the past 5 years today, we should be thinking about this question: What kind of church will we be when we celebrate ten years if the Lord tarries? Will we simply be older or will we be stronger for the glory of God? Imagine what God could do over the next five years if every member made these commitments:
-I will be present. Not just occasionally. Faithfully.
-I will pray daily for my church. Not only when there is a crisis, but every day.
-I will discover and use my spiritual gifts. The church doesn't need more spectators. It needs more servants.
-I will intentionally disciple someone. If every believer invested in just one person over the next five years, the impact would extend far beyond this generation.
-I will invite people to Jesus. Every empty chair represents someone God loves. Let's fill them—not to grow a crowd, but to grow the Kingdom.

Five years ago, this church was only a dream in the heart of your pastor and a burden in someone's prayers. However, we are here today as a living testimony to God's faithfulness, and I firmly believe the greatest chapters of this church have not yet been written! Church. The reality is that the next five years begin today. So let's keep our eyes on Christ, our hands to the work, our hearts united in love, and our feet moving forward in faith.

May God Help All Of Us To Not Merely Celebrate God’s Faithfulness Over The Last Five Years, But To Commit Ourselves To Being The Church God Can Greatly Use In The Next 5 Years!

As we intentionally invest our lives in each other, God is glorified, and the church grows spiritually! The world has many places where people can gather: sports arenas, concerts, community centers, and so many other places. However, there is only one place on earth where complete strangers can become brothers and sisters through the blood of Christ—the Church. May New Life be known as a church where no one walks alone, every generation is valued, where every believer is growing, and where every follower of Jesus is helping someone else take their next step with Christ!

Key Sermon Truth: The Gospel Was Entrusted To Us So That It Could Be Passed Through Us!

4 Points Paul Emphasizes Regarding Generational Discipleship
1) Before You Can Pass The Gospel On, You Must Be Strengthened By The Gospel (v.1)

Many believers immediately shy away from discipleship, offering excuses like “I’m not qualified”, “I’ve never been to Bible college”, “I haven’t been saved that long or I don’t know the Bible well enough.” However, Paul did not say “Find experts.” He said, “Find faithful people.” Discipleship is not complicated. It’s ordinary believers intentionally helping someone else become more like Jesus Christ! Paul encourages Timothy to pass the “spiritual baton” that’s been handed to him on to those coming after him so the Gospel keeps transforming lives. Who Are You Handing The Spiritual Baton Off To Currently? Who Are You Faithfully Handing Over The Things You Know About God To That Is Part Of The Next Generation Of Believers?

May God Help All Of Us To Understand That We Are His Plan To Keep The Spiritual Baton Moving To The Next Generation Through Faithful And Intentional Discipleship!
