Series: I’M AT WAR WITH MY HUMANITY: Romans 7:23
Title: “Stop Visiting The Graveyard” *FINAL MESSAGE IN SERIES*
Scripture Reading: Romans 6:4-11

Opening Questions:
1) Have You Ever Felt Like You’re Fighting Yourself?
2) Why Does Following God Sometimes Feel Harder Than We Expected?
3) Is Your Biggest Battle External Or Internal?

Key Sermon Truth: Many Believers Spend So Much Time Visiting Who They Once Were That They Never Become Who God Has Called Them To Be!

5 Points Paul Brings Out About How We Should Understand That Our Old Self Is Dead
1) You Must Remember Jesus Calls Dead Things Back To Life (Romans 6:1-4)
2) You Must Stop Rehearsing What God Has Forgiven (Romans 6:6)
3) You Must Remember That Freedom Requires Renewed Thinking (Romans 6:11)
4) You Must Remember Others May Need To Help You (Romans 6:12-13)
5) You Must Stop Visiting The Grave Of Your Old Self (Romans 6:7-9, 22)

Many believers forget even though Christ has won the war for us, they must walk in the freedom Christ has won for them. The grave of our old self may explain where we came from, but it does not determine where Christ has called us to live our lives. If we are going to stop visiting the grave of our old self, we must:
1) Stop Identifying With Our Old Life,
2) Agree With God’s Word About Who We Are,
3) Allow Others Around Us To Help Us Grow In Christ,
4) Refuse To Live In Yesterday’s Failures,
5) Walk In The Freedom That Christ Has Given Us!

The enemy wants us to remember who we once were, not in who Christ has saved us to be. We must stop visiting the graveyard of our old self and get serious about finally walking in the freedom from sin that Jesus has already purchased for us. Our old shame, regrets, labels, failures and identities do not define who we are in Christ because He has set us from sin!

May God Help All Of Us To Stop Watering, Decorating And Tending The Cemetery Of Our Old Self And Begin To Walk In The Resurrected Life Christ Has Called Us To Live!

Series: I’M AT WAR WITH MY HUMANITY: Romans 7:23
Title: “Winning The War”
Scripture Reading: Romans 8:1-13

Opening Questions:
1) Have You Ever Felt Like You’re Fighting Yourself?
2) Why Does Following God Sometimes Feel Harder Than We Expected?
3) Is Your Biggest Battle External Or Internal?

Key Sermon Truth: Many Believers Forget That Christianity Is Not About Pretending That They Don’t Struggle With Sin, Face Temptation Or Fail To Live A Perfect Life, But Remembering That Christ Is The One Who Has Already Won The Victory For Us!
5 Points Paul Brings Out For All Believers Regarding The Victory In Christ Over Sin
1) Victory Begins With No Condemnation (Romans 8:1)
2) The Spirit Gives Power Over Sin (Romans 8:2)
3) Your Mind Determines Your Direction (Romans 8:5-6)
4) The Spirit Leads Sons And Daughters Of God (Romans 8:14)
5) Victory Is Daily, Not Instantaneous (Romans 8:13)
Many believers forget that if we are going to win the war, we must: 1) Reject Condemnation, 2) Depend On The Holy Spirit Daily, 3) Guard Our Thought Life, 4) Follow God’s Leading Consistently In Our Lives, 5) Fight Every Single Day Against Sin. As followers of Jesus Christ, we should fight differently against sin because we already know the outcome! Jesus has conquered sin, defeated death, overcome hell, and secured for us victory! Yet, many Christians still continue living as though defeat has the final word. We still have battles, temptations and sinful setbacks, however, the cross settled for us what the flesh could never solve. The war is hard, sinful flesh is strong, but God’s victory is greater!

May God Help All Of Us To Understand That We Must Might Fight Sin In Light Of The Fact That Christ Has Already Won The Victory Over It For Us!

Series: I’M AT WAR WITH MY HUMANITY: Romans 7:23
Title: “When You Lose The Battle”
Scripture Reading: Psalm 51:1-17

Opening Questions:
1) Have You Ever Felt Like You’re Fighting Yourself?
2) Why Does Following God Sometimes Feel Harder Than We Expected?
3) Is Your Biggest Battle External Or Internal?

Key Sermon Truth: Many Believers Forget That When They Fail In The Battle Against Our Humanity, It Does Not Remove Your Value In God’s Eyes, But Points Out Our Need of Forgiveness And God’s Grace!

5 Thoughts For Every Believer To Consider From Psalm 51 About When We Fail In The Battle

1) Failure Should Lead To Conviction, Not Condemnation (Psalm 51:3)
2) Repentance Opens The Door To Restoration (Psalm 51:10)
3) God Is More Interested In Restoration Than Punishment (Psalm 51:12)
4) Failure Is A Lesson, Not A Life Sentence (Luke 22:6-62)
5) God’s Grace Is Greater Than Your Worst Failure (I John 1:9)

Many believers forget that when we fail, we must:
1) Run Toward God, Not Away From Him,
2) Repent Honestly, 3) Receive God’s Forgiveness,
4) Learn From Our Sinful Failures,
5) Get Back Into The Fight Against Our Humanity.

The Gospel is remarkable because the power of Jesus is not simply that He saves perfect people, but that He restores the broken ones. Perhaps you are carrying regret, shame, disappointment or guilt and you have been defining yourself by your worst moment. Listen to the Word of God today: “where sin abounds, God’s grace abounds much more!” Just like Jesus parable of the Prodigal Son, so our Father stands to greet us not with folded arms, but open arms ready to receive all who will turn from sinful living!

May God Help All Of Us To Understand That We Do Fail In The Battle Against Our Humanity, But God’s Desire Is For Us To Be Fully Restored From Our Sin!

1) You Must Stop Supplying The Flesh (Romans 13:14)

The flesh does not die accidentally, so we must intentionally starve it. May God Help All Of Us To Identify Where Our Flesh Is Controlling Our Lives Instead Of The Spirit And Do Something About It!

Series: I’M AT WAR WITH MY HUMANITY: Romans 7:23
Title: “The War Within Me”
Scripture Reading: Romans 7:14-25

Opening Questions:
1) Have You Ever Felt Like You’re Fighting Yourself?
2) Why Does Following God Sometimes Feel Harder Than We Expected?
3) Is Your Biggest Battle External Or Internal?

Key Sermon Truth: God’s Desire For Our Lives Is For Us To Wake Up And Realize We Are In A Real Battle With Our Sinful Flesh!

Even though it may not feel like we are in a battle, the reality is it’s like a civil war inside you for your soul. One voice pulls you toward God, and one voice pulls you toward your flesh. Whichever of those two voices you feed, ultimately ends up winning in that moment. However, the good news is that you are not alone in this fight and more importantly, if you know Jesus, the outcome of the war has already been decided. If you feel like you are losing battles, don’t forget that you are in Christ who will win the war. Maybe today, you are losing and it’s time to stop pretending everything is fine, the struggle isn’t there or perhaps you feel as though you are fighting all alone. This is the moment to say, “God, I’m tired of fighting myself, I need you to help me.” Every believer lives in daily conflict between the flesh and the Spirit—but through Christ, victory is not only possible, but it’s promised!

May God Help All Of Us To Be People Who Realize The Fight With Our Own Humanity And Ask Christ To Help Us Get Victory Over Our Sinful Flesh!

3) Our Motivation (v.7-8)

This passage is so important, and it really should shape the culture of the church to think about how to advance the Gospel and those in Gospel ministry. We should be people who treasure the Name of Jesus and eagerly support those who have devoted their lives to spreading the Name of Jesus. When they visit, we ought to show overwhelming generosity, hospitality, and thoughtful encouragement. After they leave, we should continue to give, pray, and communicate with them about what God is doing in their ministries. We are all in the ministry of the Gospel, so let’s be good partners together in advancing the message of the Gospel!

May God Help All Of Us To Be People Who Faithfully Partner And Support Those Whom God Has Called To Spreading The Gospel Message Beyond The Local Church!

STEWARDSHIP: In God We Trust Ep 07 - Supporting The Local Church

Series: STEWARDSHIP: In God We Trust
Title: Supporting The Local Church
Scripture Reading: I Corinthians 9:3-14

Opening Questions:
1) How Do You View Money & Material Things?
2) What Does God’s Word Say Regarding These Issues?
3) What Does Biblical Stewardship Look Like In The Christian Life?

Key Sermon Truth: God’s Desire For Our Lives Is To Learn To Give Sacrificially, Which Demands Love For The Local Church And The Support Of Gospel Ministry!
3 Challenges For The Believer When It Comes To Supporting The Local Church
1) Believe In The Church’s Mission (Ephesians 3:1-13)
2) Embrace Your Obligation To The Mission (I Corinthians 9:3-14)
3) Gladly And Generously Give Toward The Mission (I Corinthians 9:6-7)

Christian, God has given you an obligation to support the local church. However, He wants you to move beyond simply giving because of obligation and learn to be a cheerful and generous giver. Understand more importantly, He wants your heart more than your money. Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matt 6:21). The first step to cheerful giving is to give. John MacArthur said, “Giving is not God’s way of raising money. Giving is God’s way of raising children.” As you give, God will change what you love, and He will build your faith.
God wants you to deeply love heaven and love the local church. Ask God to help you have zeal for the Gospel and generosity in supporting the local church and its ministries!
