We are excited to announce that B.J. Fink is our new Director of Youth Ministries for Abingdon UMC! B.J. Is no stranger to AUMC. He and his family have been a part of our church for over three years. B.J. is a lifelong United Methodist, having grown up the child of a pastor, and has experience in student ministry and coaching. He also works extensively in Esports (he can tell you all about this growing industry). B.J.’s wife Kat teaches English at E.B. Stanley Middle School. They are parents to Elowyn, Finley, and Norah.

Youth and parents are invited to a welcome dinner for B.J. this Sunday evening from 5:00 to 6:00 in the fellowship hall. This will be a great chance for students and families to get to meet B.J. and hear about his vision for the youth ministry.

This past Sunday, Pastor Paul continued our Philippians 4 series, exploring how to find God’s peace in an anxious world.

Telling someone to "just calm down" never works. Instead of white-knuckling our way through worry, Christ invites us to stop fighting the current and let Him carry the heavy load.

God’s peace isn't something we manufacture in our own strength. It is a gift that finds us and stands guard over our hearts every single day.

This past Sunday, Pastor Paul continued our series in Philippians 3 with a powerful challenge: moving past a comfortable faith where our prayer is often "Bless me, Jesus... but don’t mess with me."

Instead, Christ invites us into a transformative collision. When we let go of worldly status, pride, and self-reliance, we uncover the sacred paradox of the Gospel: finding leads to losing, and losing lets you find.

Releasing what we hold so tightly makes room to experience the true freedom and resurrection power of Jesus.
