WELCOME TO EPHESUS!

A bustling city of the ancient world, coastal and metropolitan. Paul's missionary journey to Ephesus (as described in Acts 19) successfully led to the formation of a new Christian church. But they, like us, needed encouragement. That's why we're going to be working through Paul's Epistle to the Ephesians for the month of August. This series will enrich our understanding of how our head, heart, and hands can be shaped by the Holy Spirit. "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them" (Ephesians 2:10).

August 2nd "Chosen and Beloved" (Ephesians 1)
August 9th "Unity in Christ" (Ephesians 4:1-16)
August 16th "Renewal of the Mind" (Ephesians 4:17-32)
August 23rd "The Christian Household" (Ephesians 5:17-6:9)
August 30th "The Armor of God" (Ephesians 6:10-24)

With a church that predates both the Declaration of Independence and the formal institution of the Presbyterian Church in the new world, it's easy to take a long view of history. And when you do, one thing becomes clear: we need to pray for revival.

Not just for the Church, but for this country.

Pray for civility.
Pray for humility.
Pray for wisdom.
Pray for unity.
Pray for our leaders.
Pray for our neighbors.
Pray for justice.
Pray for peace.
Pray for courage.
Pray for truth.
Pray for mercy.

Take it from our congregation, who have been around since 1763: a church that prays is a church that stays.

So pray for revival! 🙏

We braved the heat for our annual Revival Sunday worship service. Who needs air conditioning when we got soul conditioning with Jesus? Amen?
