God is saying to You today. I have heard Your cries, I can feel Your pain. I know You may not understand all that I allow, but I am always in control. I alone have all power. Out of Your disappointments and heartache, I will bring great joy. You must hold on during this difficult time. Place Your faith and trust in me, be still and know that I am God. Everything is going to be alright…

Listen… Mary Magdalene is my girl. I don’t care what anybody says—she was ride or die for Jesus. And y’all, don’t skip over her story just because it makes religious folks squirm a little. Some say she was a pr******te, some say she wasn’t—but what we do know is this: sis had seven demons cast out of her (Luke 8:2). SEVEN. That’s not a bad day… that’s a spiritual ICU.
But here’s the part that wrecks me: Jesus didn’t avoid her. He delivered her.
He didn’t shame her. He saved her.
And after He set her free, she never left His side.
She wasn’t just around for the miracles and the crowd—she followed Him all the way to the foot of the cross when everybody else was bailing out and hiding. And when they laid Him in the tomb, she stayed close. And on resurrection morning? She was the first person He appeared to. Not Peter. Not John. Mary. The one with the past. The one nobody saw coming. The one He called by name in the middle of her heartbreak (John 20:16).
And I say all that to say this:
If you’ve been through unspeakable things...
If you’ve battled addiction, abuse, trauma, shame…
If you’ve ever thought you were too far gone to be used by God…
Remember Mary.
Because Jesus didn’t just clean her up—He trusted her with the message that He was alive.
Let me tell you something: that same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in YOU (Romans 8:11). He can heal what tried to destroy you. He can restore what was stolen. He’ll meet you in your lowest place and call you by name.
So don’t you dare let the enemy use your past to quiet your calling.
If He used Mary Magdalene—He can sure enough use you.

A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Tw***ies and a six-pack of root beer and he started his journey.
When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old man. He was sitting in the park just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old man looked hungry, so he offered him a Tw***ie. He gratefully accepted it and smiled at him. His smile was so pleasant that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered him a root beer.

Again, he smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word. As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave, but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the old man, and gave him a hug. He gave him his biggest smile ever.

When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy? "He replied, "I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? He's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!"

Meanwhile, the old man, also radiant with joy, returned to his home. His son was stunned by the look of peace on his face and he asked, "Dad, what did you do today that made you so happy?"

He replied, "I ate Tw***ies in the park with God." However, before his son responded, he added, "You know, he's much younger than I expected."

Too often we underestimate the power of a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring.

A picture is worth a thousand words, right? So, here’s one spitting water out ….Gross? Yep. But, that’s exactly the picture Jesus painted.

Revelation 3:16 says, “Because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” That verse has always made me uncomfortable, but I kinda think it’s supposed to.

Most of us spend a lot of time talking about reaching the lost. And we should. Jesus came to seek and save the lost. But in Revelation, Jesus wasn’t speaking to atheists. He was speaking to the church. To people who believed.

So what does a lukewarm Christian look like?

Maybe it’s praying over your meal but never talking to God the rest of the day.

Maybe it’s knowing more about your favorite sports team than you know about Scripture.

Maybe it’s posting Bible verses online while refusing to forgive someone offline.

Maybe it’s singing worship songs on Sunday and gossiping about people on Monday.

Maybe it’s trusting God with your eternity but not with your finances, your marriage, your time, or your anxiety.

Maybe it’s treating church like an event to attend instead of a family to belong to.

Maybe it’s opening Facebook every morning before opening your Bible.

Ouch.

I’ve been guilty of more than one of these.

Lukewarm isn’t usually outright rebellion. It’s a slow spiritual drift. It’s loving Jesus, but not enough for Him to shape how we actually live.

The good news? Jesus didn’t give this warning because He wanted to reject us. He gave it because He wanted to wake us up. So, if this rude awakening stings a little this morning, don’t run from Him. Run to Him. He isn’t looking for perfect people. He’s looking for surrendered ones.

A minister passing through his church
In the middle of the day
Decided to pause by the altar
And see who had come to pray.
Just then the back door opened,
A man came down the aisle,
The minister frowned as he saw
The man hadn't shaved in a while.

His shirt was shabby, old,
And his coat was worn and frayed.
The man knelt, he bowed his head
Then rose and walked away.

In the days that followed,
Each noon time came this chap.
Each time he knelt just for a moment,
A lunch pail in his lap.

Well, the minister's suspicions grew,
With robbery a main fear.
He decided to stop the man and ask him,
"What are you doing here?"

The old man said he worked down the road.
Lunch was half an hour.
Lunchtime was his prayer time
For finding strength and power.

"I stay only moments, see,
Because the factory is so far away.
As I kneel here talking to the Lord,
This is what I say:

I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU, LORD,
HOW HAPPY I'VE BEEN
SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHER'S FRIENDSHIP,
AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN.
I DON'T KNOW MUCH OF HOW TO PRAY,
BUT I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY.
SO, JESUS, THIS IS JIM,
CHECKING IN TODAY."

The minister, feeling foolish,
Told Jim, that was fine.
He told the man he was welcome
To come and pray just anytime.

Time to go, Jim smiled, and said "Thanks."
He sped to the door.
The minister knelt at the altar,
He'd never done it before.

His cold heart melted, warmed with love,
And met with Jesus there.
As the tears flowed, in his heart,
He repeated old Jim's prayer:

HOW HAPPY I'VE BEEN,
SINCE WE FOUND EACH OTHER'S FRIENDSHIP,
AND YOU TOOK AWAY MY SIN.
I DON'T KNOW MUCH OF HOW TO PRAY,
BUT I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERY DAY.
SO, JESUS, THIS IS ME,
CHECKING IN TODAY."

Past noon one day, the minister noticed
That old Jim hadn't come.
As more days passed without Jim,
He began to worry some.
At the factory, he asked about him,
Learning he was ill.
The hospital staff was worried,
But he'd given them a thrill.

The week that Jim was with them,
Brought changes in the ward.
His smiles, a joy contagious.
Changed people, were his reward.

The head nurse couldn't understand
Why Jim was so glad
When no flowers, calls or cards came,
Not a visitor he had.

The minister stayed by his bed,
He voiced the nurse's concern:
No friends came to show they cared.
He had nowhere to turn.

Looking surprised, old Jim spoke up
And with a winsome smile;
"The nurse is wrong, she couldn't know,
That in here all the while.

Everyday at noon, He's here,
A dear friend of mine, you see,
He sits right down, takes my hand,
Leans over and says to me:

'I JUST CAME AGAIN TO TELL YOU, JIM,
HOW HAPPY I HAVE BEEN,
SINCE WE FOUND THIS FRIENDSHIP,
AND I TOOK AWAY YOUR SIN.
I ALWAYS LOVE TO HEAR YOU PRAY,
AND I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERY DAY,
SO JIM, THIS IS JESUS,
CHECKING IN TODAY.'"

Would you be ready if Jesus came today?

Matthew 25
¹ Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
² And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
³ They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
⁴ But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
⁵ While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
⁶ And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
⁷ Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
⁸ And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
⁹ But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
¹⁰ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
