Super grateful to the Allens for the delicious nacho bar tonight! It was great!
We had a good crowd tonight going into spring break and Easter weekend… we’ll be off Easter sunday night and will be back on April 12th at OUR NEW CHURCH!
soooo excited to put some roots back down… Won’t He though!?!?!?
We didn’t get into the resurrection tonight, since that celebration takes place next week BUT we did go back to the crucifixion and the thief on the cross. Totally inspired by my dude Alex Clark discipling to a fellow student that didn’t know Christ.

A thief on a cross next to Jesus Christ said his final recorded words addressed to the Savior before his death: “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom” (Luke 23:42).

The thief’s words capture an intimacy and intensity—this is the only time in the Gospels when a person refers to the Savior by his given name of Jesus, and this is the only time anybody asks Christ to remember him or her.

In response to the thief, the Savior said, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise” (Luke 23:43).

I picture a scene in which someone that’s never heard the stories of Christ, nothing from the disciples, no knowledge of heaven, the words of Christ, hasn’t heard anything about this dude on the middle cross until this day, this hour, this very moment. The thief goes from mocking Him to asking him to remember him. In that moment, watching our Savior take His last breathes did he become a believer.

As the thief passes and he’s standing face to face with Peter at the pearly gates, he doesn’t recognize the place, no idea where he is or what it’s called much less who’s in front of him or what the gates are even to. After giving his name to Peter and he’s scrolling through the list, Peter makes small talk, and “heavenly quiz” if you will. you know, the kinds of questions that allow u to verify if someone is where they’re supposed to be.

Peter. how many animals did Noah put on the ark?

thief. Who’s noah and what’s an ark?

Peter. define the Trinity for me…

Thief. u mean the number 3?

peter. surely you know the 10 commandments?

Thief. command whats???

Peter. give me one reason i should let you into heaven?

Thief. i didn’t even know where i was but if you must know, the guy in the middle cross, said i could come…

and with that, Peter opens the gates and lets him in.

the guy didn’t, pray before every meal, didn’t go through confirmation, or have perfect attendance in the sunday school for 4 years in a row. He was the worst of the worst and still showed enough faith in Jesus and beloved enough in Him to ask to be remembered…

no matter what you’ve done, no matter how bad you were, it’s never too late to give it all to Him. We serve a mighty Savior that paid the ultimate price to save us! The ONLY way to the Father is through Him, all you’ve ever had to do is BELIEVE!

We had a great crowd tonight, super grateful to have parents like jeremy and beth jones to help feed the kids tonight.
Grace Alumni came back tonight for an oh so appropriate “football analogy” filled lesson on
James 1:2-3 (rev) states: “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.”
These verses encourage believers to view, challenges as opportunities for growth, understanding that endurance develops through suffering, ultimately leading to spiritual maturity and refined faith.
Life is like an entire season of football, you’re gonna take some hits, gonna be the one doing the hitting… you’re gonna win some and lose some, have great games and not so great games, sometimes youre consistent and sometimes your not… sometimes you’ve got your friends back, other times you let em down… if the ultimate goal in life, our “super bowl” is an all expenses paid trip to Heaven, then everything else is just noise! We’ve gotta stay true to God’s word, recruit as many to his kingdom as possible and be all in for the team, everyday! do those things, believe in the one and only greatest coach to ever walk this earth and YOU WIN!!! what a glorious day that will be!

One our favorite things to do is wrap for Angel Tree. These kids and their families took on 2 angels this year and got them all
wrapped up for the holidays!

If you feel like giving this season and money is tight, please consider volunteering a few hours and get some wrapping done @ Mainstreet Methodist this week. They’re in desperate need of volunteers and will take all the help they can get!

To everyone in the NGC women’s group that fed our youth tonight, we thank you! We came back together tonight after being off for intersession last week so tonight we were cheerful givers… we had an opportunity to give back to the community that we love so much… 8 HUGE bags of trash were picked up just on Harrisburg st alone! If u travel this road on the regular, hopefully you can see the difference.
nearly 20 kids and not one griped about it, not one scoffed and thought they were “above” getting a lil dirty this evening. And for that, we’re not only beyond grateful but extremely impressed at the growth we see and continue to witness the older these young people get!
God is so good to us, we’ve gotta keep doing things to lift up his name!

A big THANK YOU to the Berards for dinner tonight! Means more than you know…

after listening to 2 sermons today from 2 different pastors i wanted to elaborate on one of them a little more, especially after today’s mass shooting in Michigan…

James 3:1–12

“Not many [of you] should become teachers [serving in an official teaching capacity], my brothers and sisters, for you know that we [who are teachers] will be judged by a higher standard [because we have assumed greater accountability and more condemnation if we teach incorrectly]. For we all stumble and sin in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says [never saying the wrong thing], he is a perfect man [fully developed in character, without serious flaws], able to bridle his whole body and rein in his entire nature [taming his human faults and weaknesses]. Now if we put bits into the horses’ mouths to make them obey us, we guide their whole body as well. And look at the ships. Even though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are still directed by a very small rudder wherever the impulse of the helmsman determines. In the same sense, the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things. See [by comparison] how great a forest is set on fire by a small spark! And the tongue is [in a sense] a fire, the very world of injustice and unrighteousness; the tongue is set among our members as that which contaminates the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life [the cycle of man’s existence], and is itself set on fire by hell (Gehenna). For every species of beasts and birds, of reptiles and sea creatures, is tamed and has been tamed by the human race. But no one can tame the human tongue; it is a restless evil [undisciplined, unstable], full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God. Out of the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. These things, my brothers, should not be this way [for we have a moral obligation to speak in a manner that reflects our fear of God and profound respect for His precepts]. Does a spring send out from the same opening both fresh and bitter water? Can a fig tree, my brothers, produce olives, or a grapevine produce figs? Nor can salt water produce fresh.”
‭‭
the above passage alludes to the gravity of a word, how important what and how you say something is. Evil always attacks righteousness. the snake used words to temp and twist in the garden. just as these domestic terrorists’ (especially in the past couple of weeks) mentality changed, became evil, because of the whispers of the same snake. just as the tiny rudder on the ship directs the huge body, it shows its true power. the absence of the rudder also causes the boat to float around, with no direction or guidance. the tongue, just as the horse’s bit, is a tool a device, one used to control the animal, lead, guide and direct it.
with EVERYTHING going on in the world today, the words we choose, either bring others closer to Christ or farther away. Can we speak faith in Christ and hate in our brother? Can we preach unity from the pulpit and post division on our bookface? i’ve heard the term “Conservative Christian” “white Christian” “black Christian” “moderate Christian” they don’t exist…. You’re just a Christian. the use of secular words to describe the “type” of Christian you are only matter as talking points or fb post. the Good Lord, Alpha and Omega doesn’t care how u vote as long as it aligns with his laws. sorry… i bird dogged on yall there, still needed to be said.
what if a positive, helpful, word had been given to the man before he shot up the Catholic church? maybe a different type of word would’ve turned todays madman to Christ, instead of being eternally damned in Hell? Our words just like our actions have consequences, let’s make sure the reaction to them is one that glorifies our Savior and brings us closer to our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Continue to pray for our country… satan has been hard at work, but he will lose just as he always has.

This Sunday @6 we’ll be Friendship Worship Center for United. I plan to be there 5:30-5:45. If we’ve ever needed to unite with other youth groups and church’s, the time is now!

i overheard conversation a while back between two high school friends and one said, “they’re just gonna have to accept me as i am, i’m not changing for anyone”

although i get that we should all be accepted, i believe we should all want to change, we should all want and strive to be better versions of ourselves tomorrow, than we were the days before. Christ tells us to grow and become better, over and over. We’re NOT meant to stay the same!

1 Timothy 4:15 ESV

Practice these things, immerse yourself in them, so that all may see your progress.

1 Corinthians 13:11 ESV

When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways.

HUGE shoutout to our young people for stepping up in front of the congregation… one of the hardest things in the world to do, is to speak in public. We’re firm believers that just like the pressure that it takes to make diamonds, when we get out of our comfort zones, thats also where the best version of ourselves can be found!
