As we celebrated the life of Billy Fleming today we were honored to have Mr. Joe Greer back on the organ that he had played for 20 plus years. Hope you enjoy this short clip as much as we did.

If April showers bring May flowers, then I am hoping this month will BLOOM! I am still amped up after our Holy Week services last month, and I wanted to continue to bring some of that energy into the pulpit as I delve into my next sermon series: "DEEP CUTS & B-SIDES, VOL. II." Last year at Upper Long Cane, I preached from texts that you won't find in the Revised Common Lectionary, and I wanted to continue that series this month with another edition. You may be shocked that some of these passages aren't in the RCL, but this just goes to show the importance in covering the WHOLE Bible and not just the Reader's Digest version of it!

On May 4th, I'll be preaching from Daniel 6 and offering a fresh new perspective on the classic Daniel in the Lion's Den story. For MOTHER'S DAY on May 11th, this sermon will be about the importance of our new birthright in Christ, based on Genesis 16 and Galatians 4. Be sure to get your children to church so momma and/or grandma can be happy that morning! On May 18th, I'll be preaching from Deuteronomy 8 on the importance of remembering and abiding in God's commands. Lastly, the series will wrap up on May 25th, and I'll be comparing Genesis 28 to the classic rock hit "Stairway To Heaven" by Led Zeppelin. It'll be fun!

As summer approaches, I would encourage you to spread the word about VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL, which will be from June 16th-19th at Upper Long Cane. Please also be in prayer for our congregation and church in general as we continue to discern ways to grow in new directions so our church may flourish!

This month, we invite you to journey with us through a special sermon series titled “The Lion and the Lamb,” as Rev. Gordon Tubbs explores some powerful teachings of Jesus from the Gospel of John. Our series begins April 6th with John 14:6, where Jesus declares, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” On Palm Sunday, April 13th, we’ll reflect on John 6:35, “I am the bread of life,” as we celebrate Communion and reflect on Christ’s entry into Jerusalem. Our gathering for Good Friday will be in the sanctuary on April 18th at 7:30 PM, which will be an opportunity to reflect upon the cross and what Jesus has done for us. Easter Sunday, April 20th, brings us to John 11:25, “I am the resurrection and the life”—a glorious celebration of His victory over death. Be sure to join us on Easter morning for our Joint SONRISE service at Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church 7:00 AM, and our traditional service at 10:00 AM! We’ll close the month on April 27th with John 15:5, “I am the vine; you are the branches,” a call to abide in Him.
