A woman who is menstruating cannot pray, fast, perform tawaf (circumambulating the Ka’bah), or do i’tikaf in the mosque. But she can still fill her days and nights with beautiful acts of worship:
1. Reading or reciting Quran from memory – she should avoid touching the Mushaf.
2. Dhikr (remembrance of Allah) – repeating phrases like:
“Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel.”
“SubhanAllah wa bi hamdihi, subhanAllah il-‘Adheem”
3. Istighfaar (seeking forgiveness) – saying “Astaghfir-Allah.”
4. Dua (supplication) – praying to Allah for good in this world and the Hereafter. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Dua is worship.”
5. Repentance – turning back to Allah sincerely.
6. Charity (Sadaqah) – giving to others in need.
7. Gaining Islamic knowledge – learning more about Islam and implementing it.
Even without fasting or praying, these acts bring immense reward and closeness to Allah during Ramadan.
