“𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹?”
That simple question sparked something in Edwin. Hear his story of how his search for the truth became a relationship with God that transformed everything.
At an Easter service that my aunt brought me to, I raised my hand out of curiosity. If this was real, there was nothing to lose in finding out more.
For years after that, I called myself a Christian. I believed, I prayed, I attended church camps. I thought that was it. Until my mentor taught me about sin and surrender. I realised I am a sinner in need of a Saviour.
The journey was a process of learning, failing, and coming back to God again. It was not an instant transformation.
The turning point came when I heard a sermon about having a personal relationship with God. Something shifted in me - I spent more time reading the Bible to truly understand who God is. I realised that as I knew God more, it meant surrendering to Him - trusting Him instead of relying on my own feelings or circumstances.
God reinforced this lesson at home.
One day, I scolded my daughter and she refused to apologise. She said: “𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘩𝘰𝘸. 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯’𝘵 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘮𝘦.”
That stopped me because that was me before I knew how to surrender to God. I realised that surrendering is something learnt and practised, not automatic. Just as she needed guidance, I needed God to teach me. It was then I chose to let Him reshape me. The change became visible in how I spoke, responded, and lived.
Looking back, I know I didn’t walk this journey alone. My mentors and church community walked with me and invested in my life. Today, I desire to do the same for others. Not just to feed them, but to teach them how to seek God for themselves.
