✨ Christ is Risen, Alleluia! ✨

Happy blessed Easter Sunday!

Let us rejoice in the triumph of our Lord's resurrection and give thanks for the hope and new life that He has brought us.

May the joy and peace of our Risen Lord fill our hearts and bring us closer to God. May we also bring this Easter joy and peace to those around us so that they too may experience God’s unwavering love for His people.

Good Friday

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."
— John 3:16
=====================================

"Were you there when they crucified my Lord?"

Today, as the Church commemorates Good Friday, we are invited into a day of somber reflection as we recall the immense suffering and sacrifice that Jesus endured to atone for the sins of the world.

Yet Good Friday is good because amidst the sadness comes a glimmer of hope as we remember the depth of God's unconditional love for humanity. Through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, we are offered the gift of salvation and the chance to be reconciled with God. It is a reminder that even when we were still sinners, God loved us so much so as to give His only Son for our redemption.

In our fasting and abstinence, may we reflect on this great act of sacrificial love by Jesus and respond to God's invitation to live a life of grace and love. May we truly taste and see the goodness that this very day invites us into.

A blessed Good Friday to all.

Maundy Thursday

"I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another."

— John 13:34

=====================================

Today, on Maundy Thursday, the Church commemorates the Last Supper, a time of solemn reflection and prayer as we remember the events leading to Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection. Maundy Thursday marks the beginning of the Easter Triduum, a three-day period of deep meaning and significance for our Church.

The New Commandment:
----------------------------
The word "maundy" comes from the Latin word "mandatum," which means "commandment." At the Last Supper, Jesus gave His disciples a new commandment — to love one another as He had loved them. Like the disciples, we are called to spread God's unconditional love with those around us as followers of Christ.

The Washing of Feet:
----------------------
Jesus also demonstrated true servant leadership and humility when though their Lord and Master, He chose to wash the feet of His disciples, even the one whom He knew was to betray Him.

The Last Supper:
------------------
At the Last Supper, Jesus also broke bread and poured wine for His disciples, saying "This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me." He then took the cup of wine, saying "This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood." This act of breaking bread and pouring wine has become for us a symbol of Jesus' perpetual presence.

The Agony in the Garden:
----------------------------
On Maundy Thursday, we also remember the Agony in the Garden, when Jesus prayed in anguish before His arrest and crucifixion. In His moment of agony, Jesus showed us the depth of His humanity and His willingness to do the will of His Father, even in the face of great suffering.

=====================================

As we reflect on Maundy Thursday and the events of the washing of feet, the Last Supper, and the Agony in the Garden, let us remember Jesus' final act of service and love, His commandment to love one another, and strive to follow His example by serving others and drawing closer to God.

Palm Sunday of the Lord's Passion

=============================================

On Sunday, the Church celebrated Palm Sunday of the Lord's Passion. It marked the beginning of Holy Week, the most sacred week in our Church's liturgical calendar.

We are reminded that the people who had waved palm branches and joyfully proclaimed: "Hosanna in the highest! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!" as Jesus entered Jerusalem, would later become the very same crowd who would shout: "Crucify him!" on Good Friday. Lest we forget the many contradictions that we too demonstrate in our faith journey, especially in the face of adversity.

As we continue to journey through Holy Week, we are invited to draw deeper focus to God and meditate upon Jesus' Passion, death and resurrection. Let us do so with sincere and humble hearts.

Season of Lent 2023

"Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return."

=============================================

Today the Church begins the liturgical season of Lent with Ash Wednesday. It is a day that reminds us of our human mortality — that we are dust and to dust we shall return. It is also a time of reconciliation with God, as we are invited to come back to Him with all our hearts and not let fear keep us apart from Him — a God who is loving and forgiving despite our human fallibility and sinfulness.

Let us embrace this season with acts of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. As Pope Francis had said in his message for Lent, let us open our hearts and minds to listen to God's call.

==============================================

"Lent is a time of grace to the extent that we listen to Him as He speaks to us."

— Pope Francis, Message for Lent 2023

Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes

Did you know the 5 fascinating facts of this feast?

==================================

Every year on the 11th of February, the Church commemorates the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes.

This feast day traces its origin back to 1858, when a 13-year old girl, Bernadette Soubirous, was picking wood nearby a grotto. Soubirous had noticed a startling wind and rustling sound, thereafter seeing a lady clothed in a white veil and surrounded by a golden light before her eyes. It was Our Blessed Mother.

Our Lady was said to have appeared to Soubirous on 18 different occasions at the very same grotto. Since then, millions of Catholic pilgrims have visited the healing waters at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes.

Therefore on this very day, we ask that Our Lady may intercede for us as we call to mind and pray for the healing of those who are sick.
