Aluminium Louvres

Some problems are invisible until they are not.

When the team went up to inspect our aluminium louvres, what they found was serious. The panels were badly corroded, structurally weakened, and sitting directly above areas where our members gather every week. The risk of a panel coming loose was real.

Every single panel has been removed and replaced. What you see now is sturdy, clean, and safe.

At $70,000, this was the single largest spend in Phase 1. But when something poses a direct risk to the people in this building, there is only one right answer.

New Ramp Installation

We want everyone to feel truly welcome here. Not just in words, but in the way this building is designed and cared for.

For a long time, our members who use wheelchairs had no proper ramp to access the sanctuary. And in an emergency, a safe evacuation route for everyone was simply not there.

That was a gap we could not leave unaddressed. So we built one. A fully compliant ramp that serves two purposes: wheelchair accessibility for every member, and a proper emergency evacuation route for everyone on the premises.

It is one of those improvements you walk past without thinking about. But for the people it was built for, it changes everything.

The bill came to $65,000. Not a small amount, but every cent went into making this building safer and more accessible for our community. Some things simply need to be done right, and this was one of them.

BLC Building Improvements

This building has been home to so many of us for so long.

It is where we worship, gather, celebrate, and serve. And over the past months, our renovation team quietly got to work making sure it stays safe, sound, and welcoming for everyone who walks through its doors.

Today we are starting a new series: BLC Building Improvements.

Phase 1 of our BCA building rectification project is complete. For those who may not know, BCA requires all buildings to undergo regular facade inspections. Ours flagged defects that needed fixing, and so we got to work.

What started as a $215,000 budgeted project grew to $339,000 once the team got in and uncovered deeper issues. We chose not to cut corners. Every fix was done properly.

Over the coming weeks, we will walk you through each improvement, one at a time. What was done. Why it mattered. What it cost.

We are sharing this because you deserve to know. This is your home too.

Our team is heading to Thailand, and you get to be part of it even if you are not on the plane.

Starting 31 May, we will collect pre-loved clothes for all ages to distribute to villagers during the trip. Your old clothes could be someone else's blessing. 🙏

Here is how you participate:

👕 Sort through your wardrobe and set aside clothes you no longer wear
👶🧒🧑 Donate for all ages, babies, kids, teens, and adults
✅ Donate items in good condition only, no torn, stained, or worn out pieces
📦 Drop your donations off with us before the team departs

You do not need to travel to make a difference. One bag of clothes from you goes a long way for a family in need. ❤️

2️⃣ Baptism Class, Starting August 2026 💧:

Baptism is not a ritual. It is where God makes you His own.

In baptism, the triune God adopts you as His child and joins you to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As Martin Luther wrote, baptism brings forgiveness of sins, redeems from death, and gives eternal salvation to all who believe in God's Word and promise. It is a divine act, not just a symbol.

If you have put your faith in Jesus and want to take this step, Baptism Class starts in August 2026. This class will walk you through:

📖 What baptism means in Scripture and in the Lutheran faith
✝️ How baptism connects you to Christ's death and resurrection
🤝 What it means to live as a baptised member of this church community

This is not a class you need to feel "ready enough" for. It is a class to help you take the step. God has already done the work. You are simply responding to what He has begun in you. ✨

💐 Honouring the Superstars Among Us — Happy Mother's Day!

Yesterday, our sanctuary was filled with something truly extraordinary. We gathered to celebrate the superstars in our midst, our mothers, the women who carry so much love, strength, and grace in their hearts every single day.

But the moment that moved us most? When our young ones stepped forward with handwritten prayers, words straight from their hearts, lifted up for the mothers in our congregation. 🙏✍️

To every mother honoured yesterday, may those prayers wash over you and remind you just how treasured you truly are. What these young people spoke over you came from the purest of hearts. ❤️

And to our young prayer warriors, thank you. You reminded all of us what faith looks like in its purest form. 🌼
