KAICIID The International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID) The Centre also combats all forms of discrimination based on culture, religion or belief.

KAICIID is an intergovernmental organization whose mandate is to promote the use of dialogue globally to prevent and resolve conflict, to enhance understanding and cooperation. KAICIID’s mandate is to foster dialogue among people of different religions and cultures to build bridges and instil mutual respect. Intercultural and interreligious dialogue helps build communities’ resistance against prej

udice, strengthens social cohesion, supports conflict prevention, and can serve to preserve peace. As an international organization, KAICIID supports the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, in particular the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion. We implement programmes to overcome stereotypes in a long-term process that leads to a culture of dialogue that enables greater understanding of people of other cultures and followers of other religions.

Today, we remember our dear Fellow, Dr. Houda Bennani Lahkim, with deep gratitude and respect.



Houda was a remarkable woman whose kindness, humility, and unwavering commitment to dialogue touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working with her. Through her contributions to KAICIID and beyond, she helped build bridges of understanding, promoted inclusive dialogue and inspired meaningful action across communities.

Her warmth, generosity, and belief in the power of dialogue will continue to guide and inspire us. While her passing leaves a profound loss, the values she embodied and the lives she touched remain a lasting legacy.

Our thoughts are with her family, friends and all those who mourn her. May her memory continue to be a light for everyone committed to dialogue and peace.

should be our first response, especially when the world feels divided.

It matters in our communities when tensions rise. In our workplaces when people see things differently.

Around the dinner table when generations struggle to understand each other. Online when disagreement turns into hostility. And in places affected by conflict, where trust starts to return when people feel heard.

Dialogue doesn't mean we all have to agree. It means speaking honestly, listening with respect, and recognizing the dignity of people whose experiences and beliefs are different from our own.

Just as an image only reveals its full picture when you step back, some details can only be fully understood when we see the bigger picture. Dialogue helps us move beyond first impressions and understand the full story.

Our differences don't have to pull us apart. They can help us understand each other better and move forward together.

Strengthening Peace & Preventing Hate Speech in Nigeria 🕊️

At the 8th General Assembly & Annual Peace Conference in Abuja, key religious leaders, scholars, and policymakers gathered to address hate speech and launch the Interfaith Code of Conduct
(ICoC).

Interviewed by the Nigerian Television Authority, KAICIID Senior Programme Manager Africa Programme Agustin Nunez Vicandi highlights the significance of the ICoC: a milestone framework containing 10 core values shared by Christian and Muslim communities to prevent and foster peaceful coexistence across .

As Prof. Abubakar Sadeeq Abba also noted during the conference, true nation-building relies on dialogue, trust and shared responsibility between state and non-state actors. 🌍

What happens when we take the time to listen to someone whose life looks different from our own?

For Hind and Eidel, one conversation became the start of a lasting friendship.
They came from different religious and cultural backgrounds and met through interreligious dialogue.

By listening, working together and staying open to one another, they built trust, challenged stereotypes and found a shared sense of purpose.

Their partnership led to Yalla City Walks, Yalla City Sports and Yalla City Talks, initiatives helping young people connect across religious and cultural differences.
Their story reflects what happens throughout KAICIID’s work.

People often begin as colleagues or project partners. Over time, honest and sustained dialogue turns cooperation into understanding, connection and friendship.
