One of the most difficult challenges is not the generation of renewable energy itself, but making electricity storable in order to access it when the sun doesn't shine or the wind doesn't blow. During the last years, major research focused on systems that are able to both store electricity and making it easily accessible. One possible solution is being developed by the start-up firm Ambri. Developing a low-cost battery that is able to function in versatile environments, their solution could revolutionize the sustainability of our grids.

What's the key to using alternative energy, like solar and wind? Storage -- so we can have power on tap even when the sun's not out and the wind's not blowing. In this accessible, inspiring talk, Donald Sadoway takes to the blackboard to show us the future of large-scale batteries that store renewab...
